I think these guys have retained some pretty incredible crisis advisors who have basically accepted that the situation is beyond repair so the only course of action is to make it so outlandish and sensational that it becomes a total farce and cannot be taken seriously.

Too bad he’s not an american politician, he actually makes me want to vote. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that gives everything away to people who do nothing. I’d much rather have a crack addict in office who does a great job during his work week then a proper asshole dressed in a suit who does nothing for anyone that works for a living.
Its obvious he’s trying to lose weight. Crack is the best diet ever. Couple months and he’ll be under 200lbs.

I’m pretty sure most places in the world he would have been removed by now but Canada is so excited that people outside Canada are actually paying attention to Canadian politics they’re leaving the freak show on tour. They do love figureheads so that might explain stripping him of all powers but leaving him in office.
This guy is ridiculous. His semantics are hilarious. “I was asked if I was addicted to crack. I said no, never. I was then asked if I smoke crack cocaine. I said no, because I don’t. I just did it once.”

That’s not it at all. They simply don’t have any legal means (recall, etc.) to remove him from office like we would if this was in the US. So they’re doing the only other thing they can do which is strip him of all power… however that creates precedent for other city counsels to act in the same way towards future mayors that they may not agree with regardless if they smoke crack or just have different policy views.
Canada’s laws don’t exactly parallel ours.
