I bought a 240 a while back. the frame on the driver side is pretty bad. i also found some holes in the body in the rear, and about 3 under the front fender well ( also on the driver side) leading through to the engine bay.
i was wondering if it is possible to have these cracks and holes welded? i know they can be, but do you think it would be worth doing?
anybody with quotes are welcome.
the car is mint in every other aspect.
just the driver side chassis.
You can take it to a shop and have them repair them which will include cutting the rot out and welding new metal in. You can also actualy go to a Nissan dealership and buy sections of the frame rails (I can get you part numbers if you want them). And take them to a place and have them use them so your rails are made of the proper units. Frame rust is not the end of the world but dont be surprised if its not cheap to fix.
fix it, too many s13’s being killed of rust, if u love the car go get it fixed, some shops will tell you its impossible, but keep at it, theres lots of good welders out there
Yep… provided there is enough good metal left, you can have a frame that’s stronger and stiffer than original. The kind of frame that will lift the 3rd wheel off the ground over curbs and things.
You’re probably looking at $1000-2500 to have it done right… and really you wont find a rustless car for under $3500-4000 anyways, so you choose.
The only disadvantage would be that it’s not as pretty as stock when you look underneath.
