do yours have and entirely threaded body?

Is you problem the fact the the threads have rusted and oxidized so you can move the collars?

yup.

the general consensus to that problem is put a wire brush wheel on a air grinder and buff them up then pb blast the hell out of the collars. Once you do that spray the entire shock body in pimer then rostoleum. IF you have to put 5’ long pipes on the end of your collar wrenches thats what we did on my buddies 240’s old silk roads

well if i decide to lower it I’ll keep in mind what a PITA it’s going to be.

Good:
Will look awesome.

Bad:
Can’t get the lift at school under it
Will lose my bumper while driving down the street
Will need to roll my fenders more or get over-fenders both are illegal in COM
Suspension geometry would be off (bumpsteer no thank you)
