i was cruising out 22 today coming home from work (burgettstown), get off at hanky farms and i look down at a blank gauge. shit, i hurried up pulled over and wiggled my little add a circuit i have plugged into my DRL fuse. gauge popped up - - -
it didn’t hit me until i read a little further into it. checked all my connections, power, grounds… damn, i’m almost sure i burnt up the sensor, who knows how long it was ran without power, i wasn’t paying attention at all
might as well have let 80 bucks suck into the intake all because i was too lazy to find an actual circuit to wire into
Bummer. It’s surprising how a sensor that withstands 1000+ degree temps all the time is so sensitive to certain conditions, like moisture and whether or not the heater circuit is functional.
Did you try resetting it though. On my cobalt mine lost power once. I just went through the resetting procedure with the button that is inline and all was better again. If you didnt drive with it un powered for a long time you should be fine
yeah i did all i could to reset it. honestly i haven’t pissed with it but i left power hooked up to it so if by chance the sensor is still okay it shouldn’t have burned out.
i’m thinking i was wrong and the gauge took a shit, coincidentally it was after it lost power. i will hook my laptop up to it tomorrow if i remember.
i go in cycles with this car. one week it’s a race car and i’m tuning/messing with shit and the next week i could care less and just drive it. i can’t keep with it, i guess you’ll have that with car you have to drive everyday
atleast i got the tune close right now, the car feels really strong.
well i found another kit used on the grand prix boards. i figure atleast i’ll have a spare controller. i still don’t know if i ruined the gauge or the sensor. the gauge is expensive by itself though. that’s why i never bothered getting one, i knew i could eventually get one used for a deal
i’m gonna run this one with a copper heat sink between the sensor and pipe. maybe that’ll help. i know the EGTs on this car with no intercooler get pretty fucking hot. all that overlap doesn’t help either
well i fiddle fucked with this shit for 2 hours now. advance in carneige showed a sensor like the one above so i went and picked it up. still don’t work so i know it’s the gauge or the controller. i double and triple checked all my connections.
i can feel the damn sensor heating up when i turn my key on so it’s getting power to the heater circuit at the very least
i guess i’m gonna have to send payment on that used setup
that LC1 has been nothing but issues for me. this past year the thing started acting up. i threw new sensor in and still messed up. it goes to 60 on the heat count then goes error. the error translates to shorted module
i will say i wont be using another LC1 again. just sucks i have the XD16 gauge now being wasted
haha i’ll take anything for the right price, i am hopefully getting one used so unless i get ripped off i really don’t need it. spare anything is nice though
i’m getting straight dashes across my gauge, it supposedly means no connection detected
i should be able to hook my fucking laptop up to it but i don’t have the software to reinstall my USB to serial adapter anymore. it recognizes my tuning program, but won’t read when it’s hooked up to the LC-1
update-well i got it connecting to my laptop but i can’t do a calibration on it without rigging up a switch(that the gauge was supposed to eliminate). i still think the gauge is fucked up
i might try it tomorrow. it’s too cold out to be screwing with this shit
