S13.4 vert VIP

Finally things are becoming a little more comfortable with other projects ive had to put infront of my vert to take the time and make a simple build thread from the gecko.

I used to see this vert all the time in front of a friends and tried to buy it 2-3 times off the chick. After years of not seeing it i ran into her and asked about it and it had been sitting in her moms yard after an accident for some time. I checked it out and the plans just started unfolding. Now Ive got the car and cant get the chick to leave me alone!

The tear down began removing the upper rad support in favor for the S14 front end.

Imo this was the best way to cut the fenders and weld them together. I tacked the outer and inner fender then completly stripped the inside of the fender to metal and fiberglassed it to ensure the bodywork would never flex and cause cracks in the final product.

at this time the car had the factory brakes which were pooched and a leaking high pres power steering line. My hatch i built a couple years ago is along side the younger sibling.

Picked up the wheels i plan on running  19x9.5 and 19x9 i think…

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/6145/picture309l.jpg

removed all the old brake stuff and lower control arms for the newer S14 stuff with 5 lug

New wheels on with stock suspension

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/2526/picture335l.jpg

Started the enclosure for a single 12" 1500watt rms woofer pushed with an atomic 2200.1
I plan on having 2x grey goose bottles displayed that light up like on my red car.

Time for the widebody test fit.

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3479/picture437b.jpg

Got the kit together

http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/7120/picture491.jpg

Finally some HSD coilovers! i love these coils over any other coilover ive owned. they are so smooth and firm. They don’t feel like you just turned your car into a bucked of bolts.

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2236/picture499.jpg

I started cutting and re-welding the stock 1/4 panel to make room for the wheels behind the 50mm widebody.

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/5563/picture514l.jpg

Then i took a break before the pain began

http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/8152/picture533.jpg

Molding started by 1st gluing the panel down with urathane, then fiberglassing it followed by fiberglass/bondo then bondo. I did the same for the red car and its stayed crack free for 2 years under harsh conditions!

Heres the interior i did, some of it was originally in the red car which i moved over to the vert.

I started doing the garage with tonnes of outlets and lights. Lots of insulation and cabinets! I even used the upper space to build a second floor to do my upholstery and small lounge to hang out in.

Ive started on the rear interior panels and relocating the seat belts for a comfortable and factory look.

That is all for now, ill try to keep updating as bigger things happen. Its been a thrill working on this vert, im enjoying it much more than the red car as this ones getting more time and more experience.

this vert is gonna look sexy, cant wait to see how its gonna look like in the end.

round of applause for this build

Nice work man

Wow. What can’t you do?

We are reallllly gonna have ying and yang verts. haha.

Bet he can’t leap over tall building in a single bow. Or move faster than a speeding bullet! :stuck_out_tongue:

nice build devin although this project isnt as custom from your previous it is very cleanly done still and flows nicely. hope to see the next post to be a new power plant

Nice Devo, always getting better…

this is really impressive

I just finished flushing out the rear and giving the widebody a slight pull with some heat and cold water, Its a tight fit shes sayyin

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/9249/picture636.jpg

Lastly i installed some LED’s under the eyelids to illuminate the housing. No wires are seen under the hood or the leds it came out better than i planned!

http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/3655/picture643b.jpg

that looks amazing!

how much did the entire front end cost you?

you really love that gucci!

Total cost on parts was about $2400. That includes the upper rad support, lip, signals, 3xHID kits etc. I actually got everything from the shock towers forward giving me every nut/bolt and bracket.

A weeks labor to really get it all together and its still far from it, ive still yet to really fit the panels flush with proper gaps.

Nice work Devin, will be getting you to re-do my seats for sure in the near future

I welded in nuts for where the S14 fenders accept 10mm bolts, the S13 locations are no where near close to use.

http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/954/picture704y.jpg

I had to cut a re-weld some of the fender to eliminate the bulge in it and blend it into the door, haven’t hit it yet with the bondo.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/7954/picture698m.jpg

Next i took my ugly C-west bumper and started re-modeling it to my likings. That lower air scoop will be completely cutout kind of like how i drew on the ducktape. I also added a 2" lip off another destroyed bumper, it looks really rough right now but after lightening it up it wont look so heavy anymore.

http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/846/picture703.jpg
http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4022/picture717r.jpg

Notice the added on lip flows right into the C west bumper

http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/9914/picture701.jpg

The surface side of the bumper/lip is being fiber glassed as well as some cutting eliminating the rice air duct.

Its not being left cut open as it appears atm, i have to make a big piece that replaces what i cut out making the opening larger.

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6720/picture719x.jpg
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/6770/picture725.jpg

The center duct will be re shaped to be larger matching the sides

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/2883/picture718.jpg
http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/7953/picture720.jpg
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5760/picture728h.jpg

it looks sweet dont stop

I used a piece i cut out earlier to get a nice curve and zip tied it in place temporarily!! The rest i used some thin cardboard and tape to get the shape i wanted.

Now my front end is starting to look a few pounds lighter, Thanks Jenny Craig!
