i have jbl 636 speakers in the rear, and every time i close the trunk on my s14, the rods will rub against the speakers
anyone have a solution for this?

Yes, you need to pull them out and install JBL P652S which are 6-1/2"
Two-way shallow mount speakers designed for just that type of situation.
fixed the problem
i used a plastic spacer that came with the jbl speakers
it put it between the speaker and the car to raise the speaker up
its clears now
