Hey all, I’ve had 2 S13’s in the last 5 years. I’ve grown to love them because they’re pretty much bulletproof, and they’re just great fun cars. I sold my s13’s though and now have a 2007 Subaru Impreza. Love the car, AWD is great in the winter, but I miss the Nissan Platforms!
Anyways, I’m out of country and will be home start of summer, and planning on getting an S14 (Kouki). Whether it be USA, or CAN spec. I’ve looked into importing and all that. Anyways for my questions.

How are the OEM motors in the s14 as opposed to s13? Just as good? Any problems that occur in the s14 as opposed to the s13 KA motors?
Are the floors still as bad as I remember? Obviously winter driving, etc factors in but is it the same issue I’m looking at?

How straight forward are SR swaps? I realize most of the S-Chassis cars have SR20s or other JDM spec motors. Is there alot of funky wiring and swap issues? I know for subaru’s its always risky going from an N/A to a WRX/STi motor and it’s a big head scratcher when debating doing a swap.

Tranny and motor parts easy to find? I know there arent that many FULL s-chassis car still around for sale, pretty hard to find. How hard is it to find a part? I know some other Nissan parts can be swapped in but should this be a concern of mine?

motors are the same (assuming they’re both dohc), but the s14 ka has different wiring and distributor, along with some other minor aesthetic differences, but yeah they’re the same.

s14 usually have less rust. the rockers get pretty bad, but the rails are usually pretty good. you might have some rust behind drivers & passenger chairs. s13’s def take the cake for rust buckets most of the times.

there are tons of part outs happening, and you can usually find any part reasonably easily. you can do SR swap yourself if you have some space, time, experience with doing shit with your hands (jerking off doesn’t count), and tons of research

Cool, good to know there are many similarities with the s13-s14 chassis. Just figured I’d ask to be safe.
