I always used Redline MT90. You need to buy 3 bottles (since you tranny needs 2.5L) and they are roughly 13-15 bucks a bottle. You can get it at JRP or Tires23.

Your owners manual should list the type of fluid to use. I know the S13 lists a GL4 grade oil and most stores only sell GL5.

I do suggest a bit of reading before purchasing oil as I’m running GL5 and noticed my 3rd gear syncro doesn’t spin up as fast.

gl5 typically destroys the baulk rings in nissan trannys that’s why, you need gl4 where it says gl4 unless you get a full synthetic fluid which explicitly states it is safe for all gl4 applications

so if you don’t want to grind, stick to redline or whatever gl4 you can find, it’s not worth killing the tranny

so what redline do you need? does redline have a bottle called GL4?

i bought Nissan 75W90 “GL4 safe” synthetic transmission oil at the dealership. it’s $12.99/L though
