would this combination be possiable??? does it mate up??
im trying to get away with the s15 6spd and use the 5spd, so my question is can the trannies from s15 s14 be interchangable???

iuno how hard it is, but it had been done
ppl in japan do it because they like the longer 5 gear gearbox
check freshalloy forums
IIRC the bellhousings are the same but the output shaft’s are different.
You would need a S14 Drive shaft as well.
so the s14 tranny would bolt up to the s15 motor providing the s14 drive shaft is used. ok, what would a the choice be for rear ends? stock s14 or would i be able to use USDM 240sx rear end?
Again this is If I Remember Correctly the bell housings are the same.
So dont go doing this and then find out it doesnt work and come touch me vaginaly.
Do some more recerch on Freshalloy or Zilvia etc.
They are all RV200 Diffs so the connecting point on the diff should be the same in Japan as it is in Canada.
Any differential from any S chassis car will work (all R200), but S15 has the speedsensor on the rear diff itself (and maybe helical instead of viscous if off the Spec R). It won’t matter for your application anyways since the S14 transmission has the VSS already.
oh for sure more research is required. thats y im here.
my plan is to order the clip by the end of the year, buy the car shortly thereafter andhave everything running for the first autoxs of 2004. caged by mid summer and some lapping days
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the fun will never stop
how much does an s15 clip cost by the way?
iirc this combination is a very popular one for drifting. I’m sure its possible, but i don’t know anyone (personally) who has done it (yet).
Why are you buying an S15 engine anyways? If you have an S13 you should just pick up one of the many S13 engines in the city and if you have an S14 then the S14 Blacktop will prolly be cheaper to put in. There is nothing special about the S15 SR. Ane to top it all off buying a clip is stupid. just pick up a complete engine and be done with it.
I can get an s15 front clip for about $7000 through a friend, regular pricing would probably cost you closer to about $8000 i think depending on the condition of the clip.
wow so you’re wasting 1000 less? nice work!
werd.
if you want body work or plan to do a rhd conversion it might be worth it, but even then you would need an s13 or s14 clip… the s15 interior wont fit
well does the clip come with a s15 front end, if so maby he is looking at making a custom strawbearry face. and also it would be nice to have a new sr that also creates more stock power becasue of the t25 ball berring trubo. i rather have a 2 year old motor then a 10 year old one
T28.
honestly, the chances of him ever getting it to run as it should, its so little, it would be well worth it to spend the money and rebuild an S13 / S14 motor, engine for the propor chassis i say.
Also, any body work you’d get for 7000 is sure to be mangled, and besides what good is any of it? hood dont fit, bumper dont fit, fenders dont fit… correct me if im wrong but i was under the impression that you need a custom hood/fenders and bumper to mold the strawberry face? eitherway, body work has nothing to do with the fact that its gonna cost him more, and the results wont be worth it…
here i’ll just do this since im bored:
S13 SR
2000$ - Engine
1000$ - Stuff To Install
2000$ - Rebuild Parts
2000$ - FMIC / Exhaust
S15 SR
7000$ - Engine And Trans
1000-2000$ - S14 Trans ( assume you can sell S15 trans, we’ll leave this as actually plus 1000 )
3000$ - Stuff To Install
2000$ - How much you’ll have to pay to get it all figured out
1000$ - Professional Tuning
So: 12000$ on just an S15 swap. BONE STOCK. im telling u right now it wont be cheaper than that, running propor.
you just spent 7000$ on installing a TOTALLY REBUILD S13 engine, with lots of hop up parts, and you still have 5000 left…
sory i ment t28
and you do make a very good point there. ya just get a redtop and do a strong rebuild, you can even put some extra $ into the fmic and other parts
