I made 216HP on turbo civs dyno with my aem v2 and a hacked up Ebay exhaust that prob did more bad than good lol.
These cars are pretty useless to mod unless you’re going FI.
You’ll spend 2k+ for 20HP lol
Full exhaust, intake, ported tb + port matched IM , cams and a tune will only get you like 230hp max on an average reading dyno

fwiw i had 2bar rubber fuel line hoses with barb fittings on all vacuum lines . probably not the best but not what was used on the tune day. they were switched to a “pushlock” quick release fitting that were the incorrect thread and also the incorrect style of fitting to be used on a boost controller and a wastegate. i was supposed to be given a line for this setup but it never happened so i purchased the line from home depot and it was high pressure/heat rated. still melted.
the kid before me who i bought the wastegate from had an EBC so the port on the top was being used. Turbociv noticed this right away and we changed it since i had a manual boost controller setup and the top port needed to be left open. after this was fixed he was doing pulls and the boost controller was not working properly. the fitting that had been switched out was an incorrect fitting. we removed the boost controller entirely and decided to just run wastegate spring (which was about 14psi) since it was already making way more power than i expected.
did a few more pulls and everything was fine. during one of the final pulls the line must have collapsed and made the car overboost . everything was setup in the timing charts and fuel in case this did happen (or if i wanted more power probably).
Would boost cut have saved the motor? maybe. maybe not. there were several variables here that came into play. The rule i have learned is research everything for yourself and don’t let other people touch anything on your car that you’re unsure of.

on a happier note, i ordered my forbidden usa mugen top and some AP2 headlights. Probably going to run an AP2 front bumper + Lip and a front splitter. Going to flare my front fenders completely and figure out a way to put some 285s in the rear Once my turbo stuff sells i can make a move on a new motor finally.
if anyone is interested in buying my side and rear diffusers let me know, i think i am going to switch to carbon.
price on the diffusers? and seems like we going to be hardtop buddy`s lol

right now they are 230$ for the sides and 520 for the rear which is 750
i would sell for 650 together , otherwise i will probably just end up wrapping them in cf vinyl .

crxdx, i ordered the forbidden-usa mugen rep top. comes with all hardware and window and ends up being $1200 unpainted. they are running a free shipping sale right now + discounted prices so i figured now was a good time to buy lol. i will be removing my soft top completely.

also i remove the soft top completely which is 70lbs weight reduction and the top is installed the only problem is im having a hard time with installing rear window and no one knows how its done right

not sure how those side ones are. mine are still new in the box. you could always buy the sides from that place, and ill sell you my rear for 450. or 600 lowest i can go together. it’s still pretty much new minus a few scrapes on the bottom which you cant see unless you’re laying under the car
im not sure about the window. i thought you just put window sealer from advance/autozone on there and then clamp it down or put a little weight on it and it should be good. i like the two tone. looks great

my top and rear window is completely trash lol so it’s either waste my time with that, or go hardtop + save more weight. it will be a tiny bit better theft protection too.
going to have to save driving my car for after 8pm. i don’t have a/c either :lol:
the summer is so shitty around here i still got turn my heater on lol but its really easy to take the top off, it weight about 20 lbs and one person can do it by him self

My thoughts, waste of money. Only time I’d even consider having one would be early spring (car usually isn’t on the road yet) and Fall (getting ready to put it away) I cant see where the cost for one of these would be worth getting. Look great, but no thanks

You put shit in your trunk, lock the glove box, put windows up and make sure nothing is in the drivers compartment. Nothing hard about that. Nothing for anyone to steal with nothing in the car. Take the faceplate off the head unit and lock that as well.
I do this a bunch. Its just a car. lol
When you have a headunit, gauges, a ecu, and a bunch of shit in the engine bay, ill take a hardtop over a soft top any time. someone can cut your top with a knife and steal all of your shit within 10 minutes :lol:
still doesnt prevent a bird taking a dump in the car. doesnt happen often but ive come out of stores and found white spots on my black top…and no i dont park near light poles
Ive been splattered on the very tip top of the windshield before. Scary stuff lol. Its not safe out there
