Samsung vs Toshiba DLP?

i know the whole schpiel about DLP rocking my socks, as it came out when i was still working at circuit

what i dont know is the quality of toshibas DLP technology, as circuit never carried it. where are my TV guys to toss in their endless information about how much better, worse, or on par it is with the other DLP makes

any help appreciated :tspry:

Samsung

informative, thanks…

Why? I have no idea. Check them out if you don’t believe me. Sears has both on display. What kind of information do you really want? They are both the same technology.

Maybe this will help: Toshiba sucks

^ well thought out and backed up with facts. idiot.

Better than your response…

no, actually i like his response better

i was hoping someone like viper or ANYONE with retail experience on these products to say something informative about the DLP engines or the light output, rather than “Toshiba sucks”

maybe thats just asking too much around here sometimes

Or you could wait til hockey tonight and ask him there!!

I like Samsung. I made my dad get one when he was shopping for a tv. I really have no opinion as far as Toshiba goes. I just know I’ve worked with a helluva lot more Samsung’s and have never been disappointed by the pic and clarity that they offer.

or you can goto avsforums and get expert advice

they know theyre shit

avsforums for the win.

FWIW: the '07 Sammy HLT-XX89S series are now leading the way (IMO). Solid state color engine eliminates the only (former) Sammy DLP drawback - rainbows. No wheel, no rainbows.

In the 7-8 months that I had my 6187W only one person had seen them on rare occasion… and we’ve had ALOT of people over for sports games, fights, movies, video games, etc.

I looked into toshiba, but wasnt a fan - cant recall the exact factors at the moment, sorry.

Unfortunately, in a month or so I’m going to have to redo my research as well.

Last summer, I chose Samsung > Mitsu > Toshiba. But alot of shit could’ve changed.

Up until Jan I worked retail for the past 2 years selling TV’s. I didn’t know any specs off the top of my head so I didn’t give you any. I wasn’t about to do YOUR googling. You asked which was better and I told you…

no, you really didnt actually. you wrote one word repeatedly with no explanation

where did you work out of curiosity?

Have you considered Hitachi?

my buddy is huge into Tvs and knows enough to confuse the fuck out of me, with all kinds of specs and numbers.

His was also a big cheaper than the other companies of the same screen size.

its moreso i KNOW the samsung is a better tv, however the toshiba dlp of the same size is 200 bones cheaper with a much better financing option, and im trying to justify cheaping out on it in that toshiba used to make a good tube…

With the amount of returns in the low volumes that I saw move through Sears I would probably never buy a Toshiba big screen, but that’s just me.

Ok, I have to ask… what happened to your TV, and why does it look like a bomb went off in your house?

Firefighters chucked the tv out the picture window… ironic, right?

Oh, it turns out that pete moss laden potting soil is flammable, who knew?
