DLP tv.

Which brand is the best? What differences are there between different brands? I know that DLP is the way i want to go but I am not sure which brand and model actually has the best picture quality and features. I am looking for prob about a 55 incher, maybe 60-61.

Also what does the P stand for in 1080p? Just curious, I thought all the dlp sets went to super high resolution so what does that mean?

Any suggestions or advice are really appreciated im looking to buy a set real soon. Thanks

Both interlace and progressive scanning are horizontally oriented. Basic technical difference: progressive mode scans every line from top to bottom (1,2,3,4,5,6,etc.) while interlace mode scans every other line (1,3,5… to bottom, then jumps back to top to scan 2,4,6, etc.). The first set of odd lines, then, is Field 1, the second even numbered set is Field 2.

samsung DLP is one of the best out there now

I agree… The only other DLP I’ve seen is Toshiba’s and it SUCKED.

:word: i ownned one for a bit. it was too big so i took it back. but it rocked

JVC’s HDILA

Have you seen JVC’s HDILA right next to Samsung’s DLP? DLP > HDILA

Dont forget it also has alot to do with the feed going into the TV.

Cable HD sucks balls compared to directv or dish. Even my OTA HD feeds blow cables away, with a simple set of rabbit ears.

I mean is there a huge difference between the new 7 color wheels compared to the older ones, i dont think so at this time. DLP was good when it came out, it was the nlatest and greatest, but there is better out there now, and since plasma has come so far from when it was initially introduced, that might be the way to go.

Yes I have, Samsungs are nice, but I would pick the HDILA

HDILA is too new

lol. this is confusing. Ive read on tv nerd forums that the samsungs are the way to go for DLP right now. i was thinking a samsung 1080p DLP set. basically i just want a nice picture for movies, etc and HDtv feed, and also no bs picture issues with xbox 360.

hdila has been out for what almost 1 1/2 years now? decent set but id still take the samsung.
and yes plasmas are a great picture but they wont be that great 10 years down the road

nothing will be great 10 years down the road, lol

something new will be out

there isn’t anything that currently outputs in 1080p, unless you have money burning a hole in your crotch, you don’t need it… yet… go spend some time reading up on avsforums

Think im gonna end up going wither 50 or 56 inch Samsung 1080p DLP.

we have a 61" samsung plasma with dlp, did not find anything wrong with it so far.

a plasma with dlp?

huh

I need to upgrade too:) I have a Philips 55" HDTV but its not widescreen:tdown: It’s an awesome tv but when i watch the hd stations i always have to grab the remote and put the tv in HD mode…lol im lazy. I find myself just watching stuff in hd cause you just cant beat the picture:)
