Scared for my car

About a month ago my wheel well plastic fell out of my passenger side, of course where my intake is located. I was always a little worried about driving in the rain, but I was always told nothing would happen unless I drove through a deep puddle. Well it’s been down pouring all day, and I’ve been driving my 02 wrx for a few hours running errands. On my way home on the northway she started bucking, almost if the plugs were bad. Which they aren’t because I just replaced them about 2-3 months ago. When i came to a stop she almost stalled. She’s parked in the garage now. But I don’t know what is going on or what to do besides let it dry out. Has this happened to anyone before? What did you do?

Pull the air filter and see if its full of water. If so dry it out then reinstall and start the engine. I would idle it up for a minute to blow any moisture through. Also get a new wheel liner.

Some people are saying to pull the plugs and shit.

boom done.

She’s good to go. Dried out the MAF and the filter from the intake. She’s back I’m action

Electronics do some interesting things when moisture is introduced into them.

PS get a hydroshield if u insist on rollin’ around with that aftermarket intake on there.

Most likely m.a.f got wet , and screwing things up . Never run a filter where water is able to get to it EVER . If it were mine pull plugs , pull filter and dry system out . Undo battery for a while to clear codes .

Run with a water resistant prefilter, cheap insurance!

See, I told u this was the best idea. Or just run a stock intake and lose like 3whp yet be able to drive thru deep puddles without giving a fuck.

Yes engine is fine. Did this with my VR6 a couple years ago. The lower grill for the fog light was busted out and rain was going right to the filter. I stalled out during Irene. Used a dime to unhook CAI at the MAF. Ran it with no filter for 5 miles to get home. Then let everything dry, got new grill, and everything was fine.

Thanks guys  I am borrowing a friends plastics till I can get new ones since he has a short ram. Eventually ill be shortening it so ill never have to worry.
