If you have any questions shoot me a PM, i currently have 2. One was my daily for 2 years with out any problems until i started modifing it. If proper maintenance was done you should have no worries.
Still think they are the best looking cars ever made (Excluding exotics), hate on me if you will. I dont know shit about the reliability, however there is a guy on here with an N/A sealth/3kgt with a nitrous that run 12’s… im sure he knows all about these!
omg… it’s the most poser exotic car ever drawn on paper. compared to something like a twin turbo 300zx (from around that era) it’s a horrible car.
Chris, make sure the 60K was done, and take a good look at the oil pan, they are know for spinning berings, alot of time due to dented oil pans. as far as speed goes, it WILL be faster that the eclipse, although they are very heavy, low 15’s stock, auto is even more worthless, they can be made to handle though, any more question, call or txt me 239-1928.

Used to work with a kid at Delta Sonic that had the bright yellow 3000gt sl, he had cai and exhaust and ran 14.9, not to bad for an 90’s n/a 3000lb car
Sorry just my opinion, i would take a vr4>tt300zx any day, now tt300zx>n/a 3kgt yea obviously… Why is it a poser, cause they had acitve aero, 4wd steering, active exhaust, awd, twin turbo, 300hp?
60k was done, has the receipts for all of it, including all repairs and visits since the car was sold on here by insert name, my only worry is at 92k miles, assuming the car wasn’t beat, it shifts very well, saw no problem driving it, how long is the life of the tranny on these? and how well do these engines hold up to high mileage, again…assuming it wasn’t beat
I say poser in regards to looks only… they basically looked at a ton of sports/exotic cars and made a numb generic combination of them all.
So did the 300zx and supra? Do i even have to get into the lancer…
guys no offense, but let’s keep the topic to my question only, i don’t need random banter about poser cars and whatnot
thanks
I had an NA 94 3kgt
I had a TT 93 stealth
I drove the NA from 40k to 72k. Never had a problem. reliable cars if taken care of. There really aren’t many issues to worry about if you don’t beat the hell out of it. Thats nothing different than any other car though.
I also had the TT for 3 years. Drove it about 40k to 78k. I never had an issue with the car until after heavy mods were done to it. I drove it with Intake, Exhaust and Boost controller for about 2 years without any problems. I upgraded the turbos with all supporting mods and new clutch, flywheel, etc. The car really ran fine until some moron blew it up on the dyno. ( boost line came off and there was no cap on the boost, so it took it up to 25lbs of boost on stock internals about 5-6times before telling me…)
I loved both cars. My best advice would be to get a TT if you can afford it and just run intake, exhaust and boost controller. The car will run High 12’s reliably. The transmission was the weak point on this car, but as long as you’re not dropping it from every light you’ll be fine. Feel free to shoot me a PM and i’ll help you with whatever you need to know. I probably know more then anyone on here…
I really am not a fan of the SOHC motor though…DOHC and DOHC TT’s are good though.
SL’s and bases weigh in about 3200lbs and the turbos are around 3800. The weight isn’t really as much of an issue as people would like you to think. I wouldn’t buy one if you’re planning on tracking it, but its a great street car.
lol my 95 Roadmaster would run that bone stock, not too bad for an 90’s n/a 4500lb car
KEDDIE!!!
BLANKENSHIP!!!
If your potential sale falls through here, my friend has a 3000GT SL for sale that needs work. Not sure if you want a fixer-upper though. PM me if you’re interested.
true but has horrible mpg, and looks like ass…
He knows someone who knows them :mamoru:
Gas mileage won’t be as good as your Eclipse, but the SL should be mid to high 20s.
That looked better than all of them ever could. They are the hottest car any “kid” can afford. Hands down. 300ZXs are nice, but the 3KGTs are sweet looking. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Onyx’s car was super clean and in damn near perfect shape… but when I parked next to him… I didn’t like the look as much as I did the VR4.
If you’re just looking for a cruiser, the SL will suite your needs. As long as the maint. was done, and the car is in good/great running order, you’ll love it. DO NOT TRY TO MAKE IT FAST. You’re going to want to, but it isn’t worth it. Don’t even bother racing it… just look better than everyone on the street. DO NOT PUT LAMBO DOORS ON IT.
You’re going to have much more fun in a TT AWD model, and you will wish you had one.
or you can Twin Turbo the SL, lighter body TTFWD > TTAWD from a roll lol, it has been done quite a few times! Oh yea and you would still have cheap insurance!
how much is it usually for the vr4 insurance? if its a 91
