school

getting ready to sign up for a few night classes at ccac. Not sure what i want to go for just yet. Anyone have any suggestions on some good classes to take?

just take some general classes… math, psych, economics, history, maybe a desktop publishing class. Any idea what you would like to do for a major?

get a skill, not a degree. so try to study towards something, not just to get credits

i was thinking something along the lines of criminology

thats what i was told to do before until i know what i want to major in.

well if you want a 4 year degree you have to take general courses. was there anything in highschool that you had problems with? math? english?

you always have to see what will transfer, but if you are just going to ccac to get a feel for school its sometimes good to take a class that might be more like a refresher to something you were confused about in highschool

Just about everything requires English Composition 101 and some math classes.

Word. No matter what job you have, if you can write really well it is always a bonus.

shit I needed oral communications, english comp 1 and psychology for auto tech. I took those years ago though.

I got 50 something credits there that are gonna be pretty much useless now.

if you plan on transfering to a 4 year college its good to get the skills requirements out of the way. specially if they are still fresh in your mind from highschool.

so i suggest taking:
English composition 1 or 2 — depending on where you place
Intermediate algebra

then general classes would be the liberal arts.
like-
intro to psychology
history
western civ

if you are intrested in criminology look at Pitt’s College of General Studies
they offer

they call criminology- Administration of Justice
and similar is, Legal Studies.

Fun class you can cross register for through ccac and take at pitt is Oragnized Crime.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need advice. I used to do academic advising and admissions committee at Pitt.
