i like that people are using cad to mock shit up. Especially the collector. However, he better get some bracing on that manifold… Talk about cantilever! The primaries on that thing are like 3 feet long lol.
look at the parts list in the “mods to my tallon” section
480 hp with a red turbo, and an safc & itc for engine management … that takes balls, lol
I bet that shit is way old. I am sure he hasn’t updated that page in a long time.
yea, its his 2003 setup
looks pretty sweet, but is the engine turned north-south in the car?, in the one pic it looks like the turbo is sitting next to a strut tower
Typically DSM stuff is transverse but he converted his car to RWD so he rotated the engine 90 degrees.
that looks like a pretty gnarly project!
Pretty insane looking car.
Hi guys - found this thread looking through my logfiles. I’m one of the guys putting that car together
Newman: The header isn’t done yet. The turbo’s shipping weight was 42 pounds (Ironic, given that’s also the model number of the turbo) - we’ll be putting a bit of bracing on the manifold. She won’t be going anywhere when we’re done with it. The primaries aren’t quite three feet long they’re actually 25" from flange to flange.
Yep, the 491 with the Red/ITC/AFC combo is old. The top of that page actually says:
This page is exceptionally outdated, but I’m leaving it here to give you an idea of what kind of parts you need to pump 491 horsepower to the front wheels of an Eagle Talon. this is a snapshot of the parts on the car at the end of 2003, the best season the car had vefore taking it apart. The best ET with this setup was 11.18@132.84mph, or something like that. It’s a bit fuzzy - I have to go dig out some timeslips.
focusinprogress: Yes - the engine is turned north-south. You can poke around in the “pictures” link in the header and see way more pictures than you can imagine about the entire conversion from AWD to RWD
We’re in the process of trying to get a lot of projects finished up, and some smaller projects started and out of the way. We’re really hoping to get the car buttoned up soon, and running. There’s so much work to put into a racecar, that it’s tiring sometimes
looks good…good luck with the project
Welcome aboard!
x2.
