se-r precat question (o2 sensor)

'03 se-r spec v, new winter car…

I’m looking to gut the stock se-r precat on the new winter wheels. I am prepared to just re-use the stock exhaust header w/gutted cat.

My question for you q25 guys is this, what method did you use to avoid an ses light.

2. Use a "ghetto sim” or anti fouler plug adapter to recess the second O2 sensor away from the exhaust stream. This is the easiest and cheapest method, however, it doesn’t always work, especially if the second O2 sensor is still close to the engine. The pic below shows a ghetto sim installed on one of the bungs of a Hotshot header:

This is the method i’d prefer as to not be forced to weld in a new bung after the lower cat and extend my o2 sensor wiring, or purchase a sim.

Anyone know where to locate a ‘ghetto sim’ plug adapter?

(before we get into a long q25 talk, all butterfly screws are accounted for and now red loctited.)

I think I know what your talking about, secondary o2 sensor defoulers are used on a lot of cobalts that don’t have the cat code turned off in the tune. Here’s a link to one http://www.modernperformance.com/vibrant-oxygen-sensor-defouler-p-2094.html

I don’t know how cheap your looking, but I’ve also heard something about people using spark plug adapters to extend it also for much cheaper. No info on that tho.

Yeah, just looking for an adapter to move the secondary o2 sensor slightly farther back to ‘trick’ it into thinking the airflow is reduced. Incredibly common.

For now it appears my pre-cat is ok. I confirmed with Nissan that the previous owner had the precat replaced under warranty, although I understand it’s essentially the same part and prone to the same issues. I have no noticable oil consumption since purchasing the vehicle.

Also, I cracked the upp IM off last night and locktited the butterfly screws, every one was accounted for and the vehicles running well.

I must say though, there was a lot of extra fuel in the runners. Not sure what to make of it but the car is new to me.

Anyone have something around here? I’d love to keep my business local.

get two of these

drill one out, screw that onto your o2 sensor

screw the second one into the first one

insert the second one into the bung on your exhaust.

$10 fix. worked on my boosted spec v with no cats. my mustang, my sisters rsx.

Ya I just did an egay header on my moms spec and did the anti fowler trick I’ve also heard of people plugging the 2nd O2 and putting extention on it and running it to past the 2nd cat to make it kosher.

Perfect.
