maybe they should go back to no goalie masks and leather helmets too :picard:

i didnt say that. there has just been a constant decrease in how physical the game has gotten. its funny. it was never a problem back in the 90s and earlier. whats the problem now? they are making more money now as well. so because you make more money means you cant be hit as hard or hit at all.

you need to get over all the “back in the day was better” crap. They’re not gonna just turn around and let everything fly now…especially for the few people who hang onto that “old time hockey” argument. For true hockey fans, yes, those days were great, and we all miss the bench clearing brawls…the fights, the hard hitting game itself.

Back then, people didn’t train their entire life to become a hockey player. Now, they do. The skill level is alot higher now in terms of overall puck skills and speed. Also, back then, the large majority of the players were either Canadian or American. These days you have players from every damn country in the world. That means a thousand different styles of play being thrown together.

It’s the natural progression of sports man…it will never go back to the way it was. And most people would agree todays game is more exciting than it used to be. Even people who loved old school play.

my $0.02

i understand all your saying, im playing my 2 cents in saying that its getting more and more less physical.

but i must object to your statement about old hockey players not training their entire life.

my father never went to college, dont even know if he finished highschool. he was playing in jr’s at the age of 14 and getting looked at by agents at the age of 16. all he did was play hockey his whole life and thats all he focused on.
