I think the most annoying thing is it won’t search quotations.
SEARCH: “30 rock”
even with quotes, it omits 30 and just searches rock
Am I using it wrong or does the search just not work at all now?

I think I figured it out.
The quick search searches posts but returns threads, but doesn’t search thread titles. Hence it’s useless. The advanced search is OK.

Although if you quick search “rant” the first 16 threads returned cover all of 2009 through now, and I bet the word rant has been used more than 16 times in the last 16 months. I think the quick search is just a random thread generator. 
It definitely seems to have gotten worse not better.
The only plus being that no one calls “repost” now because there is no way to verify something is actually a repost. 
The site never finished indexing, so no it doesn’t work totally.
The site was down while it was indexing; people bitched.
We brought the site back online with indexing unfinished; people bitched.
We work on other more important issues because people were bitching; people still bitch.
