Like 2ManyCamaros said, that could be what they did. compressing the piston in the caliper(s) and not pumping the pedal. IF that was the case, the work order was NEVER signed to lay a wrench on the car, other than to change the battery. You dont need to remove the caliper to check brakes, hell you dont really need to remove the wheel most of the time! If they admit to the above, not only does it express their guilt, but its illegal to remove any component on a vehicle unless specified in the SIGNED work order. I can sort of see removing something for “inspecting/troubleshooting”, like pulling the dip stick to check oil, but removing a caliper and compressing the piston is NOT something I could consider, inspecting/troubleshooting. I consider it retarded.
