It’s worth it for the officer to show up. Court duty is paid time and a half. If they’re there for less than 6 hours, they get paid for 6.
I’m not going to rag on you for your choices. The best thing I can suggest is find either a lawyer, or some sort of paralegal/x-copper type service. And obviously don’t do it again, lol
Actually, the officer does have to show up. It’s part of an officers duty and they can actually be charged under the Police Services Act if they don’t. It’s not as easy for an officer to get out of court duty as everyone thinks.
In extenuating circumstances someone who it qualified can take the officers place in court. An officer simply cannot “not show up” just because they chose not to.
