"Dont fight it" they say, "pay it" I'm told.

So I love coming on here and reading about people getting tickets. The part I love most about these threads would be all the “lawyers” that come out of the woodworks. These are the very people that tell you not to fight a ticket because you’ll never win. They are the ones that tell you that you will waste your time and that nothing will come of it. “Pay it to play it” is another one I’ve heard

Well yesterday I had court for a over due inspection ticket. I went in on a previous date with the intentions to pay the ticket. When they told me it would be $130, I told them I would fight it. (not a problem with me, its worth the try of keeping $130 in my pocket)

Yesterday at work I told my coworkers that I would be going and that I hoped that it would be dropped or lowered (at the most I figured it would be lowered if anything) They all insisted that I go and just pay the ticket and not spend the time.

When I got to the Clarence court, I had ever intention to pay the ticket so I didn’t sit around. When I talked to one of the court officers about where to pay and all, he asked what for… I told him, he said to get proof that it was inspected… I told him it took me a few days after the ticket to get the inspection… he told me to stick around. So I did.

My turn to go into the D.A.'s office… I walk in and sit down, when asked about the ticket I came straight forward and said, "I came here with the intentions of paying and that when I told the clerk outside, he said to stick around. The D.A. asked if the car had been inspected and if I had papers for it, I told him no on the papers, but it was inspected and that I ordered tires to get everything done at once.

He asked if the car was outside to which I replied that it wasnt and that its my summer car. He told me that he would dismiss the charges this time.

So what with telling all the truth and being straight forward and even telling the D.A. I had the intentions of just coming in and paying, but was told to stick around… I got the charge dropped and $130 back in my pocket for 1 hour and 30 minutes worth of time.

So to all you guys saying its not worth your time… I dont know about you, but I dont make $65 an hour to be just tossing my money away if court is at a time I dont have things going on.

Cliffs
-went to court for inspection ticket
-I was told to stick around even though I had no proof and said I was just going to pay for the ticket
-went into the D.A’s office and told the truth
-Charges got dismissed
-I now have $130 back in my pocket after people told me to just pay for it

So why does everyone always say pay the ticket when you can easily have a chance of keeping the money and having things dropped. Yes it might not always happen… but, it did for me.

Way to fight a fix it ticket.

Fix it tickets are much easier to be dropped than say a moving violation. I’ve gotten my fair share of tickets and the only ones that haven’t been dismissed were the moving violations.

We didn’t say don’t fight fix it tickets dumbass

lol

That was the longest post I’ve ever seen by someone just trying to prove how dumb they are. Congrats I guess.

Can you edit it with the following:
“Cliffs: I’m dumb”

Fix it ticket = 24 hours to get fixed. Took me about 5 or so days. Had no proof. And yes, we have people on the forum that say “I dont care to spend the time in court for this” Thats my point.

Most people don’t realize you can “fight” a ticket. You can negotiate with the DA to either dismiss or lessen the fines. I don’t think they want to have people taking up court time by fighting so they tend to deal with the odd few to get them out of your hair. I also think the masses don’t have the luxury of time to do what you did.

The thread your referring to was “hey I broke the law but the cop wrote down the wrong car on the ticket how can I get out of it”

For actual speeding tickets in Amherst and other places its cheaper to pay a lawyer to go for you and get it dropped then spend hours there + fines + fees.

Nobody has ever said don’t fight a fix it ticket

x2 lol

hey man, i fought that and won

Also fighting fix it tickets is fun times, i got one for loud exhaust and tires. Got them both dropped when i told the prosecutor my car lit on fire the day after the cop wrote me.

Overdue inspections are not fix-it tickets…

Thats because the court system is corrupt. Send a lawyer in, you wont be charged/parking ticket. Go yourself and not pay a lawyer = chances of not getting it lowered or dismissed. yet both got the same tickets, both have the same background with previous tickets. Its BS

Pay to play?

Don’t break the law?

Every ticket I have received was deserved.

It’s the same shit in any legal matter you never do well representing yourself.

Thanks for filling us in on another wildly interesting facet of a day in the life of you. People do this shit every day. Stop taking what people say here so literrally and seriously.

Correct. Had one a couple years back. Got the car inspected a week later, sent a letter regarding my shortcomings in failing to get the car inspected on time along with a detailed driving record from the DMV, and the ticket was dropped. Well worth the $10 driving history report from the DMV and 42 cent stamp or whatever stamps cost 2 years ago lol.

BUT THIS IS THE INTERNET

Informing those that actually do so they know it can be done. For those who already know or do it, great, this isnt for them.

on a side note.

I love this site and how everyone reacts to these posts. I think I’ll start more of them for more laughs during the day. I knew this one was going to make my day a lot funnier.

I can comment with others off the forum about who is going to make comments on my threads. The best part is it shows the maturity level of you guys, those that dont comment are obvioulsy mature enough to just ignore the thread if they dont care for them. Others have to make a point to comment on every post/thread I make… its really pretty funny. If you dont like my posts, there is a simple solution… Add me to your ignore list.

I don’t like horrific car accidents but I still can’t look away when I drive by one. Same reason I haven’t blocked you yet.
