Shift knob removal.

I know it sounds lame but the shifter has a screw bolted into it. The screw is stripped. - How do i get the shifter knob off without damaging the clutch plates and taking apart my clutch? ( Or would I have to take it apart? )

Oh man, I think you’d be getting a Darwin Award for that…

Drill the bastard out!

I just curious of there was a way where I didnt have to drill the head of it, Just because my buddy wanted it cause its an old ‘action momo’ shift knob. I guess drilling it what it will have to come down too…

And I’m not 240 prostar So yes I’ll have the odd easy question from now and again but thats how learning is made possbile.

thanks guys.

I don’t understand how the clutch has anything to do with it… but anyways…

I assume you mean the shifter has a bolt near the bottom pressing against the shifter istself to hold the knob in place.

As has been said, use a small diameter (smaller than the screw) metal bit, drill a hole into the … jam a torx head bit (or something similar… get creative) into it and screw it out.

I’ll be trying that next week some time.

I’ll let you know how it goes.
