Short Shifter Removal

Hey guys

I can’t seem to grasp how to remove the shifter, for the simple purpose of putting fluids in.

As you can tell in the following picture there are some allen key bolts but they just hold down half-moon shaped rings. And trust me we tried removing it …

And i can’t see any c-clips …

There is 6 bolts holding the shifter down.

Google is your friend. Use it. Took me about 30 seconds to find this article:

The back two are a bitch to get at, easier to get from under the car.

u dont have to take out the plate to put fluids in …

do the reverse…

Edit: hell u can even pour it in without taking out the shifter …

Honestly, whats with the smart comments?
The worst part of all, is you were absolutely no help and your lack of experience really shows. You don’t have to remove those 6 bolts.

Reading is your friend

Thanks Dan,
I actually used that guide earlier and found it useful it seems as though the plate naturally cured to the transmission , earlier i attempted to pry it with no luck. Tomorrow i’ll attempt with a mallet and if all else false i’ll just pour through the shifter

Much appreciated

Hey did you try taking out the U ring ? Normally short shifter dont have it but maybe you do…

I feel the son240 love in the air… baby baby baby oooh yeaa… lol

That article is great, I used it on my install.

I’ll have to do it again one of these days due to not installing the oem bushing…

wtf

Shit, all you gotta do is unscrew those 4 allen key bolts. then remove the half crescent plates horizontally. Once that is done, the top plate should come out no problem along with the rest of the internals, there could possibly be a snapring in there somewhere.

remove the 4 bolts and the half moons completely… get a pry bar and pry that square peice that holds the shifter in…
