Kid in NJ might want to buy my tranny. it’s a rwd tranny for an e30 bmw 6 cyl. Is there any way to ship it, should I just strap it to a pallet and get a big shipping company to do it
Fedex and DHL will be the cheapest. Only limitation is that in cannot weigh more then 150lbs. I shipped a 150 lb box from here to california for $120 through Fedex. DHL is cheaper.
Build a box or a wooden skelleton with carboard stapled to it. Make sure the base has at least 6 layers of cardboard… heavy type.
Pallet ship will be easier but more expensive. Freight co are a pain in the ass.
Fedex freight on Military will ship anything. I sent a tranny that way last spring. Cost like $100 though so make sure whoever is buying it knows how much the shipping will be. They go by weight, but there is no limit really!!
i bought a tranny, and it was shipped in a large plastic tote. Like a rubbermaid 33 gal. tote. Had a bunch of cardboard on the bottom and packed tight.
Jeez for that much moola the kid can drive from NJ here to get it!
That is the best way to ship a trannsmission, so long as it fits.
Fedex policy is up to 150lbs, but it really depends on how good a day the people in the warehouse are having.
The tranny he’s selling is less than 100lbs, probably like 80.
