The Vette is the first car that I’ve had that I’ve been this anal about cleaning with, mostly because most of my other cars either were not that clean to begin with, or the front ends got sandblasted from street racing…
But engine compression is something that I’ve always been unneccessarily anal about. I’ll check the compression on the Vette almost monthly regardless of mileage or symptoms. Normally, I’ll fool myself into thinking that my car is running badly, check the compression, it’s fine and then I think it’s running fine heh. I could check the compression on a Supra in about 12 minutes…that’s all the way together, apart, then back together.
im anal about the shine… and i constantly think i hear detonation. but i wash my car at least once a week and i wax it as well… i used to wax it on a daily basis but i think you can actually buff thru the clear coat if you do it enough… so i backed off the buffing park… but im changing the tune in my car all the friggin time…sct today diablo tomorrow…
Im not really anal about anything on the Mustang. I havent waxed it at all since its been painted, Ive only changed the oil once since I bought it two years ago (it got changed twice more when work was being done), and I never really do much to it.
Im not anal about the Elantra either. Its filthy and needs a vacuuming. I finally replaced the floormats after driving it for well over a year with a 3 inch hole where my right heel sits. I do change the oil every 3000 miles so I guess thats being a little anal.
I obsess with everything when it comes to the Z, but I’m mostly anal about keeping her clean all the time I guess. I wash/wax and detail it every 2 weeks or so to keep her shining.
i refuse to drive it in the rain. if i get caught in a shower i become very upset, but somethings you cant help. i use only oem filters, i use only sunoco or shell gasoline, unless i have no other choice hess is my next choice, only 2 people other than myself have driven my car, i vacuum the carpets every time i take the car out, i do not use the wipers if a bug hits the window, i will stop and clean it off, i park it covered in my garage after i clean it
mustang…i know i know “buy a chevy to fix my problem” lol,
the car is N/A 4.6 v8, 8:1 is the compression, timing is advanced 2 degrees over stock all thru the rpm range.
intake is 85mm inlet, 90mm mas air meter, 75mm throttle body and plenum it sort of bottlenecks but origonaly i orderd 85mm all the way but the order got all fuckedup and it was a year before i got the parts put on… long story short it was to late to send the parts back so i just put the stuff on the car and crossed my fingers lol , a set of pullies, and the exhaust is 1 5/8s bassani mid length headers ment for a cobra (again another screw up with my order) with off road x pipe, and slp loudmouth IIs, i have two tuners, an sct live wire and a diablo sport predator, generaly i find the detonation happens when im cruzing around in 5th at like 30mph to 40mph…when i give it more gas to maintain speed i generaly hear some pinging…a quick fix is drive around in 4th… other then that ive not heard it alot… or as much as when i used my diablo flash tuner… that thing made my car detonate over 3 grand in any gear lol ultimately i probly need a dyno tune to dial the car into its real potential, its just a matter of getting up the money for the cams, valve replacement kit and the time for the dyno and the tune itself. until then ill keep playing around trying to find a halfway decent combo
However, I am not a believer in the whole don’t drive your car in the rain bit. A car is meant to be driven, rain or no rain. As long as you keep up on washing and waxing you will be all set. I have driven every car i’ve owned in the rain and when it comes down to showing it off on a sunny day and I told you that it has never seen rain, you wouldn’t know the difference.
on the way home from my girlfriend’s, I drove through a down pour…my new exhaust was tapping my heat shield and making a rattling noise that I couldnt stand…when I got home, my house was bone dry…didnt rain. So I crawled under my car to fix the rattle to find that the whole underside of my car was still bone dry, yet the roads were soaked etc…the water doesnt really get kicked up under the car to have any harm.
making sure i don’t curb a wheel is the only thing. i can’t stand keeping my car clean cause i drive it to much, i just like my wheels to look good when it is clean, besides that i dont really care.
i dont allow people to really change my seat position… i fucking hate that shit… takes me forever to get it right then someone moves it and fucks it up for a good 2 weeks before i get it right again.
