i wanted to go with a TH350 but the TH400 came across us for 100 bucks so it was hard to pass up. You are right though it is major overkill. The piece of mind will be nice though.
Is there an appreciable weight difference between the SHO and this body Camaro?
it’s cool that it’s in there, but i agree with whoever said it shoulda been a fox body. lexan rear glass/fiberglass hatch, and it’d be lighter than the Taurus.
the camaro should be 500 to 600 pounds lighter
and for everyone that keeps harping on the mustang issue, Alex had 2 camaros to choose from on the project, and no mustangs laying around. buying a mustang for the project would have made little sense.
I’m still curious as to what the plan is for the intake manifold?
trim the rear timing cover and flip the intake. I will need a cowl hood to clear the throttle body unless the intake is cut and re welded to lower it down. The intake is fucking huge. I just dropped a unmodified stock intake I had laying around on here to show how it will sit. The EGR stuff has to be ground off the bottom of the intake to allow it to sit properly and the timing cover still needs to be trimmed so the end product will leave the front of the intake sitting about 1.5" lower than in the pics. Also note that the crossover tube is being deleted.
work to be performed
Is there an appreciable weight difference between the SHO and this body Camaro?
I have not really looked into the weight subject to be honest. My turbo car weighed in at 3800lbs with a full tank of gas and no driver. I would imagine a stripped camaro would be in the low 3000’s
but i agree with whoever said it shoulda been a fox body.
while it would be neat to keep a ford engine in a ford car the major problem with this swap would be oil pan clearance issues. It fits in the camaro. it does NOT even come close to the mustang. So a new oil pan would need to be built as well as a new oil pickup tube and windage tray. + again I got this car cheap. Even if I was interested in having this engine in a mustang I would still get the same people telling me I should have just built a 5.0 or telling me how I should have swapped in a LS1 if I wanted to go fast.
now thats a good idea
Good for you dude! Build it up and smoke some fools. You could be the first guy ever in a camaro that gets pussy…
:picard:
Unbelievable. I love that you do crazy shit like this.
LOL
glad to see this is still going cant believe that motors sitting in there! looking real good! just wondering, after all these trannys and motors and turbos and now another motor in a camaro body how much money do you actually estimate that you’ve spent, it has to be some amazing number
With the amount of money i have seen this kid sink into his cars, if it were put into an LS1/B-series/SR/5.0 or whatever else is out there he would have the fastest car around. Hes doing something to be different. Hes doing what he loves to do. Everyone get off his ass.
No and No
Nice progress, Alex. Hope to see the SHOmaro out before the end of the season.
cant wait to see this thing move!
HAve you thought about just cutting the hood and leaving the top of the intake exposed?
This is like a really lame F&F3 wannabe…
 to putting it all together though. I do appreciate the workings…
Yes and Yes. To pair with the massive amounts of money is dedication. 2 important traits needed when building a car.
Fastest car around? Not a fucking chance in hell. You realize there are people running around in 1000+hp 8sec cars that cost anywhere from 50-100k to build IN PARTS. If he has that kinda money tied into this shit then well he suck and im sorry. However you are clueless and obv a nuthugger. I really do not hate the build itself or the idea but I just can’t fathom this much time and effort AND $$$ to build something as slow as this will be.
