Shop to install LSD

I need a shop that can do a LSD in a DGG trans. I have the LSD already I have been looking for a while and have not had any luck.

I’m sure vw of Op will do it, they do a lot of aftermarket stuff there. and are very knowledgeable

They said they would do it. Paid $1200 for lsd, brought the car in and then they decided they did not want to do it.

I would like to find a VW mech to do it on the side, I will help if they need it.

I think you may have talked with paul at swerve because he was asking me about it. I told him I’d be willing to do it. I don’t know if he got back to you or not. I don’t have any experience with your particular tranny. But I guarantee I’ve ripped apart more trannys than 95% of people who work at dealerships. Dealers typically replace entire assemblies and not just the part you need worked on. (Hence probably why OP VW now says they can’t do it, because they’ve probably never done one)

I’m personally on vacation from my regular job till june 4th. I’d highly suggest if you want me to do it, you bring your car down ASAP for the fastest turn around time. Let me or Paul know and we’ll be happy to help you out as best as possible.

Call Dave Putnam at Competition Transmission awesome guy, awesome work.

I’ll vouch for andy at swerve. He just did an lsd in my trans. Super nice guys there at swerve, couldn’t be happier.

You asked this question on DITB and I gave you this link http://www.interpreptuning.com/ . No offense to swerve but I personally would rather have someone who knows vw trannys and has done this install numerous times. My 2 cents

Problem is I need to leave the car in Jamestown or stay there for a few days.

You are going to have to do that for any shop you take the car to, and It is your choice but a 2 hour drive for the piece of mind of knowing it is done right would be worth it to me. Your money and your car though i just see that as a stupid reason to justify not going there, it’s not like it is states away.

What about black forest motorsports?

Hah! Find me a VW dealership that actually has installed an LSD in this tranny, or in any other tranny for that matter. Probably slim to none.

Transmission shop would be a good alternative, I agree. However, you still have to drop the tranny yourself and bring it to them, then reinstall it. And I’ll make a rather obnoxious assumption that the cost of doing that at a transmission shop will be about the same as he would spend for the entire job at swerve.

I never said anything about a dealership, If you check the link you would see the guy is more than qualified but whatever keep making assumptions. BTW autohaus has installed LSDs in cars before, although I wouldn’t let them do it either.

Edit: What makes YOU so qualified to work on this tranny? You said it yourself that you have no prior experience with this tranny so why do you seem so confident that you can do it? DOn’t take this as a personal attack I am just curious.

Stop fighting

I was going to suggest Interprep too. Alistair definitely knows VWs and does nice work. Go for a ride, bring a friend. It’s less than 2hrs from Buffalo.

The only input I have is that I would trust Allistair @ Interprep with any task at all. Give him a ring and see what he has to say, at least. Give a friend gas money and pay for their meals and I’m sure they’d follow you out. Hell, give me money for gas and I’d probably give you a ride there and back just for the chat with Allistair.

Allistair @ Interprep what town?

Jamestown. I worked across the street from the shop the summer he moved in. Very cool guy, incredibly talented and years of experience.

I wasn’t trying to fight, iI was asking legitimate questions for my own curiosity. If he can’t answer them I see no reason to consider taking my car (or yours) to him.

It’s the shop in jamestown that me and 2 other people have recommended to you but you stated earlier was to far away (2 hours)

Not just far away, they do not answer e-mail. there website looks good
