I’m not in Yonkers, or NYC. So I am pretty sure i’m in the clear. I just can’t find any gun shop near me lol…
when my brother and his wife bought a rifle for her brother in queens, they drove an hour outside of queens into long island
Here’s a few Mossberg dealers that are relatively close.

Has a 23 inch barrel. With the thumb hole stock it is easy to maneuver in close quarters or shoot from the hip at very close range. Fitted with a extension tube it can hold 9 with one in the pipe. Good utility gun for the home or field. Mossberg has a version that has a collapsible stock also good for dual use.
+1 good info there.
Yea, well see if NYS allows a SBS, Full Auto, SBR, or AOW.
Yup… that’s what I’ve got loaded in mine…
for those of you that own one and if you’re going to use it for home defense…
where’s the line drawn between home invasion and such?
Because I’ve heard reports of robbers breaking in to someones house, hurting themselves on something in said house and then suing the owner and winning.
so i mean… if someone breaks in to your home, and you shoot them… do you go to jail?
orrrr what has to happen for you to not?
Dumb question I know, but I’ve been considering getting one as of late, but doubt I’d ever use it for protection because of ^^
I’m currently hunting with this gun, Remington 870 trap, i ditched the ribbed barrel and Got a nice rifled Hastings Paradox barrel for it, and got a Bushnel Sportview. Most accurate, dependable, and smooth shotgun i have used too date.
I really want to buy a gun
+1 for the Mossberg 500. I just bought a full camo and it’s a great gun. It’s my second mossberg, mainly because I’m left-handed so it perfect with the safety on the top of the gun and since it’s pump I don’t get hit in the face when a shell ejects from a semi-auto. Mine’s not for home defense but I’d still recommend it.
Good for ducks, trap, sporting clays and maybe upland but not good for the home.
Having a gun for home defense is kinda like countries having nukes. The gun is more a deterrent from home invasion and you will likely never pull the trigger. You can’t just shoot a guy cause they broke in your house. But if you catch the guy and he threatens your life rather than running for the hills then you can use deadly force.
If he breaks in your house while your there, then he or she has just threatened your life.
This is true…
I love Texas too bad NYS doesn’t have a Castle Law.
A Castle Doctrine (also known as a Castle Law or a Defense of Habitation Law) is an American legal doctrine that arose from English Common Law[1] that designates one’s place of residence (or, in some states, any place legally occupied, such as one’s car or place of work) as a place in which one enjoys protection from illegal trespassing and violent attack. It then goes on to give a person the legal right to use deadly force to defend that place (his/her “castle”), and/or any other innocent persons legally inside it, from violent attack or an intrusion which may lead to violent attack. In a legal context, therefore, use of deadly force which actually results in death may be defended as justifiable homicide under the Castle Doctrine.
Castle Doctrines are legislated by state, and not all states in the US have a Castle Doctrine. The term “Make My Day Law” comes from the landmark 1985 Colorado statute that protects people from any criminal charge or civil suit if they use force – including deadly force – against an invader of the home.[2] The law’s nickname is a reference to the famous line uttered by Clint Eastwood’s character Harry Callahan in the 1983 film Sudden Impact, “Go ahead, make my day.”
I know this is wiki but it is a good summery.
your word vs a dead guys word. Someone breaks into my house you know damn well they will catch a .40
just don’t shoot them in the back, make sure they are still in your house when you shoot, and make sure they are dead, and not in a way where you clearly “finished them off”. …you were scared, you just kept pulling the trigger until all the bullets were gone. Make sure you’re in your underwear when the police show up. You are traumatized.
…THEN…MAYBE it’s a dead guy’s word vs yours.
edit:
in ny, anyway…
