depends on what year the car is…being the vr4’s are in the earlier 90s they have the weakest cams, a set of later year manual cams is what i was refering to not hks or anything like that

I just got back from driving an '90 TSi AWD. Pretty peppy, mostly stock (slowboy 2.5" o2 housing, 2.5" downpipe, 2.5" high-flow cat, 2.5" cat-back, ACT clutch). 85k original miles, 2nd owner… fairly nice shape. The leather on the driver’s seat was pretty trashed, other than that really clean interior. Kinda ugly black/sand two-tone… but it’s a 1g Talon… not exactly a looker by nature.
The bad: grind downshift into 1st if not nearly stopped, voltage drain (gee, imagine a DSM w/ tranny and wiring issues). It actually just got a fresh tranny rebuild, I told him I wouldn’t even consider the car if the warranty doesn’t transfer to me.
He listed it for 4k obo. I wouldn’t pay over 3… sound about right?

I bet you could find a better deal. Then again, only 85k original miles is pretty damn good for a 16 year old car.
yea 4k is a good bit for that car. sounds like he is trying to get all the money back that he put into it. 2-3k is probably max you should offer him

So the guy just finally called me back… his cell phone had been cut off! And yes, it’s still up for sale. The guy obviously needs cash bad. I’m probably going to look at it later this week and bring $1k cash.
