Just a reminder…this saturday june 11 at Beaver run Motorsports complex. Get your ride on Street Heaters and have some fun on the tracks. See ya there.
Drift Days events are being produced through the combined effort of BeaveRun Motorsports Complex and the STREET HEATERS television program, the goal being to provide exciting and competitive events that center on Drifting… motorsports’ newest and fastest growing activity. In addition to the competition, a Drift School will be incorporated into each of the Drift Days events (except the “Competition Only” event on Sept. 11th). Drift Days…Sat June 11, Sat July 2, Sat August 7, Sat August 13, Sat Sept 11
Check out WWW.BEAVERUN.COM for more info. Who is the best drifter around??? Is it you…do you have what it takes…we will soon find out.
The competition was a joke. The judges had no idea what the hell they were doing. I won’t waste my time or money going to another competition held by Beaverun until they get someone that knows what is going on judging.
sorry you had a bad experience. the judges are actually certified drift instructors. i was with the judges for most of the judging and they were real thorough in evaluating drift angles, speed, style and so forth. Please tell me about your complaint so i can inform beaverun and we can hopefully rectify the situation if need be. thanks. Also thanks for coming out…remember this is an ongoing point series so everyone still has a chance.
Certified drift instructors huh? What kind of instructor has never even drifted or have never been in a drift contest. The “instructor” in the blue 350 z couldn’t even drift his own car what a joke. I spoke to one of the two people that took the so called “drift school” and he said it was a waste of time. Neither of the instructors could even drift the students cars. Not to mention the drift school course was a bigger joke than the contest. They had a left hand turn followed by a slalom. Sorry but that is not drifting. Look just because someone sees drifting on TV once doesn’t make them a certified drift instructor. Who certified these guys you? I have been drifting for 2 years and not once have I seen these certified instructors drift. How can you say that the judges knew what they were doing. They didn’t even know that when a car that is leading a tandum run and that car spins its an automatic advantage for the trailing car. I figured once a bunch of people that don’t drift or follow drifting tried to hold an event it would turn out like this. The only way to rectify the situation would be to either hire someone that really knows what they are talking about or they could cancel the rest of the contests and go back to just holding the practices. I don’t need you to inform Beaverun of anything. I will come out to support the practices like I always have but I won’t waste my time competing in a contest held by people that are clueless. People that aren’t involved should stick to what they do best, sit there and watch.
If you don’t know were they got their cetificates from how do you know they are certified? I did’t even know you could be cetified @ drift. Yeah, I know the practice and contest drift course was set up by us. I wasn’t talking about that course. I was talking about the course the “certified drift instructors” set up thats why I said the drift school course. The course for the contest would have been the same crappy course but we had to fight to get it set up correctly. Don’t think I am the only person that thinks that the event was a total failure. I’m just the only one on this site. Pretty much every person I talked to thought it was the worst contest they have ever seen and or competed in. I competed in the first drift contest to be held in the US and even though it was a new concept the judges were people that were in the scene and knew how to judge and how to set up a contest. You can’t jump on to the bandwagon now just because drifting is getting popular and think you will get any respect. It’s people like you and your crappy show that ruin the true spirt of drifting. Go back to following car shows and burnout contests. By the way I love the Street Heaters ad for the Beaverun Drift Days. Maybe you could have got at least one person that could actually drift. It’s funny we have been practicing drift @ Beaverun for a year and now you are going to tell me what’s up.
jump on the bandwagon!!! i am driving the wagon…we have been involved in drifting scince its inception…this is Street Heaters…what did you think we just found out about drifting…i am showcasing the art of drifting and putting it into everyones living room so they can appreciate what you (or at least real drifters) do. (never seen you drift so i cant say your an automitive artist). i am trying to put it put there for all to admire. you tell me…is that ruining the spirit of drifting??? We here at Street Heaters are working hard as always to help bring respect and admiration for all things automotive. you are very critical of the event which shows you have a passion for what you do or you are just one of those negative guys who likes to bitch about everything…but i don’t think that is it. You must realize drifting is still a bit underground and there are no real household names as of yet…and judging a drifting comp is even more of a novelty. Beavrun handles the specifics of the event and they are now looking into bringing in some heads from the west coast where drifting is more mainstream for some assistance in future events. Thanks for watching the show.
What events have you covered? What drift events have you been to? Drifting is still underground? Do you realize that Formula D is covered on G4 tv every week. I am all for contests and coverage. I just don’t to see a sport that I actually care about and am invovled in be turned into something cheesy. That is why I came off the way I did. It’s hard for outsiders to have contests and hold events and not have them turn out poorly. The fact that you think that the West Coast is more mainstream or up on drifting is funny. Have you ever heard of US Drift, DG Trials or the Drift Alliance? Three out of the four members are from the east coast. Two are from PA. What shows have you showcased drifting in? Who was featured? If you really want to showcase drifting in Pittsburgh let me know. Here’s a video of me winning @ Old Dominion Speedway 6/5/05. http://www.okifx.com/video/ods/finals.wmv
Well, you want to showcase drifting in Pittsburgh. There are a crew of us that are truely dedicated to the sport and would like to showcase the true aspects of drifting and the people involved. We would be more than happy to get together with you and film some stuff for the show. Let people know that the east coast is just as good or better than the west. Also, let people know that it’s not all about big wings and graphics. Let your driving speak for itself.
