SHREK - Starting over

Not yet.

lol thats exactly what I meant.

and whats up with the jimmy jammer inside the caliper before you put the piston in? I have rebuilt a few calipers and just used air pressure to blow up the boot around the piston so it would slide in

any more pics of the cage. i was thinking of getting a similar one for the rex. is there a harness bar for the seat harness? and it should be legal for drag and autox im sure.

My first time around… lol, I bet the air worked real slick! Ill try that next time thanks

No I didn’t add harness bars. The cage was made to NHRA spec. What do you want a pic of? There’s a few on the first few pages of this thread.

Just found this new for 49 bucks!

yea it works ok if you can get it just right, but its still a pita. how did you do it?

I used that wire bracket I made to help hold the gasket from getting pushed in by the new piston while I worked the rest with a small pick… Sucked.

a big F that to rebuilding calipers lol, id rather just buy remans

great looking build so far

More parts that should be here today, just in time for the weekend! Going to get the exhaust back under the car and see where the down pipe needs to be. The V-band has some stock to play with so Im going to try and take advantage of that and use a portion of flex pipe to try and take as much stress off the turbo as I can. Also have more brake lines and fittings on the way. Id like to get at least one system down this weekend.

I still need to get the cost of the rebuild kits.

Started a model of the front end set up. I still need to get all the dimensions over the weekend, this is way out of proportion right now but its all parametric.

New Wilwood MC came in. The stock metric pedal adapter doesn’t work. Had to find one with standard threads. Hope this one works it looks a little long. Also -6an to -6an for the fuel system.

Picked up some brackets for the radiator. I’m going to try making a mount that bolts to the traction bar, this way it’s removable.

not going to weld that stuff??

great build, hope the brake lines work out for ya, i absolutely hate bending/flaring lines, if you want a great flare tool (lil pricey) i would look at the one from eastwood

Thanks for the lines, going to see if they will work now.

Not going to weld if I can help it, only trying to get thru inspection. Then it’s going out the hood!

Just an idea, I can’t decide if I want to weld to my traction bars

looking good

 Love this build, Wish there were more builds,

Got the rear brakes on and noticed the e-brake was hanging up. I went ahead and rebuilt both rear calibers. Didn’t take too many pics it’s basically just like the fronts. Got all the Earls lines on so once I get the prop valve plumbed in I can bleed the brakes and have one thing done.

Here’s what the butt joint will look like, Plans might change a little the down pipe didn’t line up very well.

I thought it would bolt up all together easy…lol
After mocking up every thing I decided I was going to chop the down pipe up and make it fit right. I also didn’t like how close the turbo was to the manifold so I’m going to make a half inch spacer. I need to lengthen the down pipe about and inch.

Here is the spacer I had to make for the down pipe. You can also see the spacer for the turbo. I drilled out the threads.
