Someone I know has a 1975 'Vette with hooker headers and side pipes, but not sure if they are legal at this moment.

well i’m not sure how legal they are. i know a 70 TA challener and AAR cuda have a strang U bend in there exhaust for some law that was passed then that stated the exhaust had to go past the rear axel. So on those two cars the exhaust comes out the muffler ppast the axel and bends back to exit infront of the rear tires
To my understanding from when I looked into it for the Miata -
side exit exhaust must come to the body line, and must be behind the pasenger compartment/rear door.
dumps must come out behind the rear axle.
