I got the main door lock to fit, it took some modification/re drilling of the existing holes, but nothing extreme like I thought it would need. A drill made it a lot easier too, which oddly enough my room mate who I’m trying to keep out left behind for the week. Just need to paint around where the old door brackets were on each side, figure out how I want to put in the deadbolt and it will look MINT. I do not think it will be possible to make them turn together, but this will keep my stuff safe until the combination requiring lock gets here.

And its not as easy as getting a new room mate, we’re stuck in this contract until next May. The way the landlord explained it, we can boot him if he breaks any of the contract rules, which we are on the lookout for. We also after that however, need a new room mate to bring in or we get stuck with whoever the landlord brings in. So its not as easy as “get a new room mate”. But trust me, that is well in the works.
The way to pick a lock is to hit all the tumblers. So I decided to start working on a prototype that will require a transponder in my key to open the door. The effects of not having this transponder and hitting the last tumbler will be painful (an electric shock of about .01 amps, a discouraging shock). A transponder on the other side of the door will disable the current if the transponder is detected to be present after the 5th tumbler is hit.
I kinda want him to try to pick it once I set up the “shocking” part :rofl

Dude you are going way to far with it, just switch it with a better lock he cant pick.
He can pick dorm locks, and those are “Best” brand locks. They are really one of the best types of locks too, its a double edged key. The locks run almost $200 each, and he can pick it in 10 minutes. I don’t see much other way to go until my pin number lock gets here…
With the pin number lock, im guessing it’s electric? If so arent there usually also a key to unlock those in case the battery dies?
Mines gonna be custom, no key lock. In the key locks place will be a backup battery. A single AA battery gets 10,000 uses…2 will get 20,000. When the first one dies, a warning beep will go off.
So there won’t be a key lock there. If it did die unexpectedly even having the backup, i would go in through my window. My room mate won’t do this because he is deathly afraid of heights, so I’ll be fine.
