I’ve killed five fucking units (three Starmate PROs, and two Stiletto100s) in ONE FUCKING YEAR!!
Has anyone else dealt with this shit?
It can’t be the car because it’s been two different, brand new cars. Everything has been installed properly with NO splicing or hard wiring. Everything has been cigarette lighter and either FM modulation or AUX jack.
I’ve had the Sportster for quite a while and it gets moved from the car to the office every day. Stays turned on for 8 hours a day straight sometimes. No problems yet. Same setup - cigarette lighter & FM modulator.
Did they charge you to transfer your account to a new radio? I would hope not since they crapped out within the warranty period.
If you talk to Sirius they will give you a free radio, happened to my buddy and he called them up and they gave him a radio for free, seems like they are desperate to have subscribers that you can always get a free player.
I’ve owned 3 units, 2 sirius’s ones (one was hardwired into my truck) and a stiletto100, and all work fine for me!
I have XM. I’m not going to put “XM > *” but I’ve had it over a year, it’s the Roadyxt kit from Delphi and I take it out of my car and play it in the home stereo, as well. No problems yet. (FM modulated in car, plugged into home stereo)
we never had issues with Xm units, never put ants outside the car, we’d stick the ants under the dash, behind the radio, under rear decks… only issue we ever had was through tint on a back deck…
Then along cam siruis popularity… more defective units and way more signal issues. any ant we mounted inside the car had to go back outside.
I’ve had both and like both programming, and could go either way but XM has the reliablity for some reason…
I had better reception with the xm in our 02 Grand Cherokee with the ant under the dash then I have with the wife’s town and country Factory Siruis with the Ant bolted through the roof and outside the car…
The siruis was never necessarily bad, but with the coverage we were used to from our old Jeep we noticed new deadspots. we had the xm from 02-07 when we traded the Jeep ifor the van…
Don’t get me wrong, we had no problems with the siruis in the van… just knew we had better coverage before
Well I mount my ant. on the outside of the car, typically where an ant. should go and the only times I loose signal is in the tunnel, sometimes for a split second going under the train bridge in bridgeville, car wash and parking garage are given, and when I had a unit mounted in the truck, some wheelin back in the woods with deep tree cover. aside from that I’m a happy customer, but I suggest to everyone for better sirius signal mount your ant. outside…
