Snow blower under $1000? what to get??

I bought a used one from the owner of the house I am at, the thing has a bit of blow by, but still starts great and does a really good job. Much better than shoveling, and it cost me 100 bucks.

so why did you buy it…

Im ok with my 699 craftsman… although it can be kind of a PITA for my wife to start without the electric start

You spend $1K at HD or lowes and You had better call me first

hmm I will hit you up towards the end of next month/early nov

I just bought a 1994 Troy-Bilt for $480. 10hp, 26" clearing, and it looks practically brand new (literally almost no rust) and runs perfectly. I bought it from the dealer on Seneca by the 400, just stopped in there and asked to see what he had. Just took it in on trade from some old guy, who either never used it or washed it off after every use. They tuned it up, replaced a few maintenance items and it should be good to go. They even have the original manuals with the original receipt for $1449.00.

Here is a crappy cell phone pic, but you get the idea.

Ive never understood how people could take such good care of a damn snowblower… I see people baby them as if theyre a classic car they dont want to take out in the rain.

I let it warm up a bit before going full bore into a big ass pile of snow, but thats about it. It gets used when there is snow to be removed. As a resuly, it was rusted the first year we had it. Its probably 4-5 years old, almost everything broke on it, 3 carbs, 1 transmission, a few belts, shear bolts, the chute controls (twice)… It has INSANE blowby, backfires like crazy if you dont feather the throttle down, the transmission sticks in gears and keeps going forward after you let off the controls, and overall feels like shit.

But its used on a larger driveway, and for 100% of snow removal. Fuck shovels.
