Snowpocalypse 3, the SpringSnowmageddon 3/12/14

.

I’m so beyond done with this winter…and because of that, I don’t think what is supposedly coming tomorrow will be that intense…I hope I’m not updating this thread this time tomorrow realizing otherwise…

I agree. I’m going with its going to be weak, over predicted and lame

They’ve had a pretty solid track record with the storm predictions so far this season. The great blizzard was on the low side because no one predicted the lake to freeze over during the blizzard and shut off the lake effect guns but other than that anytime they’ve said 6-10" (or any range) some town actually got somewhere between 6 and 10" of snow.

NOAA is still saying 10-17 but their warning hasn’t updated since 10am this morning. The updates usually come out around 3-3:30.

EDIT: Nevermind, update came out at 2:01

  • LOCATIONS…NIAGARA FRONTIER.
  • TIMING…LATE TONIGHT THROUGH OVERNIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
  • HAZARDS…HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.
  • ACCUMULATIONS…8 TO 12 INCHES WEDNESDAY AND 2 TO 4 INCHES
WEDNESDAY NIGHT…LEADING TO STORM TOTALS OF 10 TO 16 INCHES.
  • WINDS…NORTH 20 TO 30 MPH…GUSTS TO 40 MPH NEAR THE LAKE
    ONTARIO SHORELINE.
  • VISIBILITIES…AS LOW AS A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.
  • IMPACTS…CONDITIONS WILL RAPIDLY DETERIORATE WEDNESDAY
MORNING…WITH RELATIVELY LIGHT SNOW BECOMING HEAVY BY LATE
MORNING. THE COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL
MAKE TRAVEL EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON. VISIBILITY WILL BE DRAMATICALLY REDUCED WITH DEEP
SNOW COVER ON ROADWAYS DURING THE PEAK OF THE STORM.

And since I’d never seen them use “Niagara Frontier” as an area before I looked it up:

The National Weather Service office in Buffalo, New York currently defines the Niagara Frontier as the following:

The door is open because the sun has super heated the office. Tomorrow should be fun because everyone has certainly forgotten how to drive in the snow by now. :eyeroll:

I just made sure my remote access was still working. If my kid’s school is canceled I think I’ll just work from home.

remote access

Are you afraid something might happen in the .5 mile drive to your office?

No, the problem is my mom’s place is over on the NT/Wheatfield line (she watches her on snow days) and I don’t want to deal with that hike after work in the peak of the storm in a car with 2.5" of ground clearance.

Final stages of trading in my truck means the plow mount and wiring / controller are coming off tomorrow morning. Perfect timing. Thanks Obama.

Welcome to using a snowblower or shovel like the rest of us.

I have a side job that I’m supposed to head from WS to Springville tomorrow night. That ought to be a fun drive down the 219…

“Don’t believe the hype.”

Now a blizzard warning lol

Ancient aliens.

While it isn’t too long, the drive from East Aurora back to Eden might get interesting.

Yep, this winter really helped make up my mind that I won’t be around for the next one.

Snow day. Hells yes. I can drink beer all day. @Motocrossx23 did you get a free day off?
