Snowpocalypse 3, the SpringSnowmageddon 3/12/14

yeah we needed two people and two sessions to clean it all up including the sidewalks etc.

problem was that the snow on the bottom was wet and heavy because it wasnt that cold when it first started snowing.

Guess it lived up to the predictions. I see a lot of snow totals between 10 and 17 inches which is what they predicted, and several of these were from yesterday evening when it was still snowing. Maybe this winter has just desensitized me but it never felt “blizzard like” to me yesterday. It was just a steady snow all day, and when the wind was blowing the worst the snow wasn’t really coming down much.

I think it really helped that so many places closed or staggered their early closings yesterday because the plow crews, at least in Amherst, did a great job staying ahead of the snow. My wife drove home around 4:45 and said the roads were plowed smooth and just had a hard pack snow cover on them.

I didnt even bother shoveling. just turned traction control off and backed out of the driveway normally. Quatro handled it like a champ.

Meh blizzard was meh.

Yeah, you don’t count cause you’re on the west coast! Haha

Just finished the driveway and sidewalk…There is definitely over a foot there. Snowblower or bust next year.

Buy mine for $100

^ You can’t go wrong with a running Ariens for $100.

Deliverable?

Where to? It’s in Lancaster/Alden right now.

Ken-Ton?

Gotta talk with the boss though.

i still dont see the need for a blower and we have a 4 car drive + sidewalk…

however, any bigger of a drive and we’ll def be picking up snowblower for the next house… i still say the exercise is valuable though.

Fukushima radiation will do that.

East and Alexander downtown from yesterday. Apparently people were ripping through the city on sleds all last night. I took mine out and ripped around for a bit.

I live on the corner lot, my driveway is big enough for our two cars and maybe another at the bottom. The sidewalk however takes forever. I don’t need to throw my back out doing it.

I had to do my driveway/sidewalk last night and it was brutal. My blower broke during the first blizzard this year, caused me to go buy a new one and fixed the old one shortly after. With the snow drifts, that is the killer for me. I had one yesterday that was up over the top of the snowblower and I just cut my way right through it no problem. Being able to shovel the small areas, throw the snow in a pile and clear with the snowblower is def handy too.

I can feel my power increasing daily.

With my driveway being down to the concrete before the snowfall it was a breeze clearing it. My old school 1974 24" toro loved the heavy snow. Stuck it in first and just walked behind it. Didn’t have to wrestle with it, threw the snow a good 30’ and was down to the concrete again. My stupid 5 year old 30" 10hp craftsman is still in the corner needing the spring for the float that I lost.

Yeah, this was the perfect snow for snowblower throwing distance. I was able to clear the magnolia tree in my front yard.

My buddy across the street was clearing his sidewalk just as I was getting done. I walked the snowblower across the street like I was going over to say hi but just as I got there I pointed the chute at him and nosed it into the snowbank. Buried him pretty good and laughed all the way back up my driveway.
