BRB going to go buy a 250hp AWD Focus! I think I might even pay $15k just to thank them for not taking tax money!
I think you mean fusion. there is no AWD 250 horse foci.
Mike, I am the same way. My dad worked for the woodlawn plant. I remember going to car shows out there and checking out the plant. My dad bringing home brand new cars and trucks for test rides. There are so many awesome stories that my dad has told about the plant and his co-workers. I do want a used TBSS but besides that, I am strickly a ford guy. last summer my neighbor asked who worked for ford as we had my dads mountaineer, my sisters explorer, my focus and my wifes escape all in my back yard. I will always drive a ford. hell I just picked up another focus for a project(this is my 3rd focus).
Dammit…here goes the domestic hatewagon:banghead:
Since I’m here, I feel the need to defend. You rag on domestic econo cars as being boring/cheap/no bang for the buck/etc, go find me an exiting econo car that’s non domestic that is so superior in your mind that you feel the need to bash.
My bad I meant Fusion.
Whatever it was it was AWD, a bit optioned and $13somethingk new.(Obviously it had some incentives)
First off, I hate economy cars, I’m a muscle car guy.
I hate Imports in general unless it’s RWD, AWD, Turbocharged, or in general something special.
I like fords economy cars. GM and Chrysler have nothing I’d think about buying in the econo car class.
Sometimes I wish I had gone domestic. For the same money as my Xterra I probably could have gotten a nicer Explorer. Granted the Xterra has had zero problems/squeaks/nuisances so far so I’m not unhappy, but oh how I miss leather and a more-than-four speaker stereo.
Nope. You mixed two in your mind I think. You can get a base FWD 140hp Focus for $13k or an AWD 250hp Fusion for like $26-30k.
Well look at that. 5 comparable econoboxes.
The Cobalt has the most horsepower, best gas mileage, and is the cheapest to buy in the real world. Sorry, pwned.
It’s still ugly, it still has a shitty quality interior. A lot of people wouldn’t buy it for that reason. Especially half the population(Women)
oh, so your factual arguments turn out to be wrong so you cling to the subjective ones since they’re opinion-based. Gotcha.
ford focus interior is going to have the same, if not worse build quality than GM. I have heard of several instances of people that own both GM and Ford cars, that have random interior pieces, like handles/locks/switches just fall off.
Spend the extra 1-2k on the civic that will outlast them both. IMO Ford hasn’t won shit.
Congrats, on scraping by with the bare minimum.
too late
Funny part is my officemate came in today and the first thing he said to me was “Buy American!” as he dropped a big bolt on the desk. Fell out of the shift linkage of his 2007 Shelby Mustang in the parking lot this morning.
Our generation is full of blind import humpers the same way that our parents are all blind import haters. The more things change…
it’s not a blind hate.
Read the post above you. OH WAIT, IT WAS YOUR POST!!
I seriously wish that I could honestly justify going out and buying a Domestic designed/built car right now. I just can’t seem to gain any faith in the product though.
Ford would have won in a free market capitalistic model. GM and Chrysler would be gone and they’d cornerSince we’ve gone to this quasi-socialist “every company is too big to fail” model no one has failed. In fact, you could argue GM won because the good for the short term, horrible for the long term decisions they made managed to get their stock as high as the $80’s. Ford on the other hand with their better long term decisions has never seen their stock crack the $40 mark.
And there in lies the beauty of the bailout. You fuck the guy who took the responsible route by keeping his risk taking competition in business.
Then get a VW…oh wait you also mentioned the xterra did have any problems, squeaks etc…:mamoru:
yay im rich
Import humpers are allowed to be blind when their only other option is what domestic makers have been putting out for the last 20 years.
Which would have been a shame, since GM’s current product line has some of the best stuff they’ve ever had, and beats Ford’s pretty soundly.
The thing that pisses me off about GM is…they CAN build nice, quality cars…they just choose not to.
