So hard to ignore really ignorant automotive conversations

Ive had someone argue with me that their dads 12 second 454 chevelle was faster than my car because it was a 454. Im like well yea it runs a slower 1/4 mile time and traps less clearly wayyyyy faster.

Is he a Republican by any chance? :roflpicard:

I always though it had something to do with being drunk and spelling shit wrong.

working at an A/E firm, there is a ton of the “stereotypical” bmw, mb, infiniti, etc owners, as well as all the greeny hybrid smug tree huggers. i hate it lol. i may dd a bmw and do love the cars, but i am far from the typical owner and i avoid any conversation with the other guys that have them as much as possible.

but i do love driving my truck to work. loud ass exhaust with zero emissions, not even a pcv, crankcase pressure vented into the exhaust. some of the other guys in engineering are into cars so they like it, but all the arch guys hate it haha.

Yep, I get “those” looks from the neighbors for the same reasons. Allroad+S4+Miata = 19,200 total purchase price.

However, on the subject of silly arguments with co-workers, luckily I don’t have to deal with stupidity.

these conversations make me want to bash my face in with a ball-peen hammer.

I.E.
Charger > 996tt

lol this is why I don’t talk about cars much. There are only 3 kinds of people who have car conversations, none of which appeal to me:

  1. The unwashed masses who don’t know anything. <–Too Annoying
  2. The internet kids who know more than the unwashed masses but think they know everything <–Usually douche bags
  3. The guys who ACTUALLY know a lot about cars <–Over my head, but sometimes I’ll listen if it’s interesting

If you have a really stupid conversation about cars you should reevaluate your coworkers :stuck_out_tongue:
Although dealing with customers can some times be worse

Its funny people thought i was baller because i was changing cars monthly, and when I sold my evo and got an older used Audi people congratulated me on doing better, and it was quite the step down going to an older A4

Agreed about the perception thing. My wife went from an '00 323i (fine but slow), to an '00 StgIII S4, and folks where she worked wondered why the downgrade.

Yeah people wondered too why I downgraded from an '04 S60 R to a '91 MR2 for a DD.

Oh wait…

A guy at work yesterday was telling me about his Sky Turbo. He was telling me about how we was passing someone up a hill “aggressively” and that the car sensed the hill and kicked the turbo in and pinned him back.

me being nice - “Sounds awesome”
me in my head - :picard:

fixed.

people at work like my TDI and don’t understand why I keep my taurus

neither do we.

LOL

its fun and cheap just like your mom

I find it much harder to ignore ignorant automotive conversations on forums.

dosent vote. but thinks george bush jr was a good president because of some tax breaks, and that obama is responsable for the majority of the national defecit. Also that bailing out the car companys wasnt already on paper before he took office, that bush had nothing to do with it.

I can’t make this shit up.

I feel the same way about LT1 owners who try and justify their motor isn’t a POS

Zing?
