and it was a dog. it has a 50trim, external waste gate, tial bov, intake, 62mm Throttle body, side exit exhaust, big front mount. I honestly wasnt all that impressed. It had a short throw shifter and it was a tough to shift, clutch was nice i guess. maybe because the turbo didnt spool til like 3k. i just wasnt all that impressed. i shifted at like 5k and only was at 8 psi and it had a boost controller
i had a SRT4 with just o2 housing downpipe and stage one comp with wastegate. it fuckin would blaze the tires from 3k to 6k rpm it seems like it wasnt buiding power like it should. it should be well into the 15+ range by then. someone prob turned the boost down before theylet you beat their car. my car with good tires would have went 12.9’s but i got a 13.4 out of it spinning top of 1st 2nd and a lil of 3rd
there must have been something wrong with it then cuz any srt-4 i drove was a nice performing car from factory… fastest you could buy for under $20,000
its my buddies friend. he let me take it for a drive. i gunned it a few times but i didnt take it to redline or anything. when i popped tho hood i saw there was no vac line to the wastegate (forgot to mention that) so i dont know if it just wasnt opening up. it was building boost tho
no it hasnt been tuned hes looking to get it tuned. im saying it was a turd because it stumbled through the rpm range. it was very hesitant and i just wasnt impressed. i mean he has a lot of stuff done to it and it just felt like a dog. I think he has a vacuum leak but he says its at 20psi for vac. i drove it at nite and he said something about it not driving right with the lights on. which makes no sense to me.
getting into a turbo car that you are not familiar with at first may not seem fast. Taking it to redline will load you up w/ more power going into the next gear ect…, they are actually designed that way. I’m sure if you would have had more time in the seat you could have got it to go a bit faster.
ive driven my fair share of turbod cars, i mean i own a gsx, and have driven turbo 240s, eclipses, hondas, even 420a eclipse, but never an srt4, maybe i just didnt like his set up. im use to my eclipse spooling at 2300 and going up to around 5k. maybe if i get to drive it again ill know…i hated its fucking short throw.
I vouch, worked on that stg 2 car from a dealer. It peaked 20psi and it was hauling the potatoes. no traction first and second, third would fizzle out and by that time its about to slam into triple digits.
what psi do they run from the factory? do you know what 50 trim it was? it should still spool pretty quick, maybe not as quick as your poopy mitsu turbo.
i had an 04. with drag radials, mopar bov, short throw shifter, motor mounts, and cai it went 13.13@106.xx 1.92 60’. so there was definately something wrong with the one you drove.

i only briefly looked under the hood. but it had the 50 trim, externally gated, tial bov, intake, a 62mm throttle body (so he said), side exit exhaust, big front mount, stock clutch for now with a short throw. i think the injectors and rail were stock. it had an afpr on it. umm i think that might be it. i konw it wasnt tuned and it felt like it had a vac leak. i noticed the waste gate didnt have a vac line but he said it didnt need one (which doesnt make sense to me) i dont know what else to say about it. obviously no one could help me since your not there to drive it and i dont give a damn too much since its not my car…i just didnt like it/his
your assuming that all SRT-4’s suck like that?
thats like cracking open an egg from the case, noticing its bad. then assuming all eggs are bad and throwing the case away.
i didnt say they were all bad its just my one friend had problems with hers, and this one…just steering me away from them, i mean i had a dodge before and it was shit, and my mitsubishi was shit (still chrysler) im just very skeptical
