oh i know i hear ya…maybe that’s why they removed the grill though…it looks like with that gone you could reach down to the FMIC and unbolt it. but seriously who gives a fuck…the car got jacked, it’s getting fixed by a new owner. /thread
That car sat at my work for a LONG LONG time and then we sent it to the suby dealer, the deal with that car is, when it first got traded in a kid that worked at my work wanted it and he couldnt get financed for it soooo, he dumped just about evey chemical we had in the gas tank and sugar and what ever else he could put in there and then just beat it to to hell around our parking lot here and there, it ran so fucked up that they sent it to the auction and it eventually came back again a few months later, then it ended up sitting in the back of our parking lot all winter and just about everything that could be stolen off of it was takin, so they wanted it just fixed enough that they could send it back to the auction again but non of the tech’s wanted or were able to fix it so we just ened up sending it down to the suby dealer to get it out of our hair, THE END, i just cant believe you bought it but i hope it works out for you
shitty that it got treated like that, but its doubtfull that any major damage was done in the process … private party price for that many miles in fair condition is 12k, meaning he can put about $6500 into it before he cant sell it for a profit anymore
plus you have to figure in some additional possible sale price considering $6500 would buy you a bunch of better then stock stuff in the process
at schmitts one of the tech’s decided to fill the parts drivers exhaust full of tranny fluid. it was a brand new exhaust on a late 90’s Grand Prix gt (?)
car was impecably clean, to the point that the guy had had us repait the rear taillight filler panel the day it got a dent in it …
Schmitts told the tech to either replace the exhaust or be fired … when they coulda just pulled the exhaust, tipped it up on end to drain it, reinstall, then park the car outside running for a while to burn off what was left
but this kid was allowed to repeatedly have access to a car he was jelous of … sweet
I remember this thing car pretty good. It’s already got injectors, fuel pump, and tuned for sti turbo. Sounds like its pretty fucked… time for a full sti swap.
I think homer240sx was the original nyspeed owner.
I know all of this cant be true. There was no attempt to fix this after the parts were stolen. It was sent to the suby dealership for a quote and came back.after insurance check came in i got first crack at it,it wasent to get it out of your hair. The end/
It should be fine.
Its still a good buy no matter what. The brakes are worth 2k alone. The turbo Xs computer was about 1k.Im going to get in touch with mike to see what was done with this and go from there.
Actually, that UTEC version sells for about 250 now with a map switch
Your best bet is to strip every electrical and mechanical mod off and run it around for a while to see if its still ok then start up with the mods. I have a chunk of random little suby parts around so when you get a list of parts PM them to me and I’ll see if I have anything. I can ship them up to you for cheap. Like I have a grill, ect.
good luck…if the story is true sounds like you may have gotten screwed. I hope it works out for yea. Shitty what some people do to cars for dumb reasons
I went and looked at the car yesterday. After looking everything over it is a damn good deal. What a steal  Brent, nice find. Should be able to have it up and running to what it was before for about 2K.
