Anyone notice 1/2 empty car lots? Here in Springville the inventory is waaaay lower than I can ever remember at the Ford and Chrysler lots.
Iâm sorry, Iâm an uber hater for GM, but that is NOT a good thing to be. Iâll take a car that doesnât depreciate 10 fold after a year or so over a cheaply made saturn.
I mean donât get me wrong, if your looking for a first car out of high school, sure go ahead and rock a saturn, but Iâd never buy a GM new in my life. Not even worth my time.
Well at least I donât have to hear that guy say âpunditâ anymore.
Donât you drive a jetta, guessing from your avatar?

The 2005 has lost 43% of itâs value.
http://autos.yahoo.com/2005_chevrolet_cobalt_ss_supercharged_coupe/
The 2005 has lost 49%
Woohoo⌠a massive 6% difference.
Not to mention youâd be paying much closer to sticker on the VW whereas the Chevy dealer would be throwing discounts at you
Thatâs because you could get way more money back on the resale of a VW even though theyâre not considered the greatest of reliable cars.
Yeah, I based my figured on MSRP, and you know no one pays MSRP on a domestic.
Are you illiterate, or just stupid?
somebody didnt read the link
no offense, but the cobalt SS is a specialty vehicle. pretty common knowledge that specialty vehicles hold their value way above a more standard car.
edit: n/m, I looked up and saw that the LT is relatively similar in percentage lost
Good riddance
Yeah, but the 1.8T isnât really a common version of the jetta either. I picked the performance versions because they are more likely to be cars people on nyspeed would buy.
What boardjnky4 said. You comparing the Cobalt SS to the everyday Jetta sedan doesnât make sense. Compare the average Chevy to the average VW and youâll get your real answer.
Jetta GLI is the fancy âperformanceâ version
see my editâŚyou actually get the same answer, if not better
Especially when you knock 1500-2000 off the MSRP of the domestic because even with the worst negotiating skills in the world you can always get that at any chevy dealer.
Mybe you guys dont realize how easy my Saturn is to work on/find parts for. My 01 Sc2 is like a friggen Lego set. I can go to the junkyard and find almost any 1.9 twin cam from 93-02 and have the part I need on it. It never rusts, it takes one hell of a hit, and if my motor/trans for some reason dies, I can have another one in it within three hours in my driveway for under $100. I really dont care about the value of the car, cause if this one gets wrecked, I can buy another one for $500 and have all my âmodsâ swap over without any complication.
The GLI is the top of the line Jetta. Seems to me its a pretty apples to apples comparison.
Edit: I love how brainwashed (ie: stupid) some of you domestic haters are that you canât even acknowledge actual facts.
Iâm gonna miss Saturn. They were way ahead of the game. I really wish they didnât sell out to GM, I bet they would be the best selling car in America right now if they hadnât.
Saturn was founded by GM. :eyebrow:
