I don’t understand selling a car to someone and not taking any of their personal info.
I usually get a copy of the bill of sale for my own records.
But I can understand because I don’t always do it. More so when I am selling sub 2000 dollar cars
Wire transfer is the only truly safe method, but I’ve never tried to set one up. I think Viper did a wire transfer when he bought his old M3.
I don’t think I could even tell you the first name of the person I sold my last 7 cars to. No need to have their info really.
Yeah, I couldn’t tell you the guy’s name I sold my Fiero to. He came, gave me $3500 in cash, I helped him drop the car off at his place in Boston and he gave me a ride back to my house. At least I probably could have found the house again if something went really wrong with the deal but the fact that it was cash and the guy showed up in a shiny new 5 series to look at the car pretty much shut off my scam detector. This thread will definitely make cash sales a lot less trusting in the future.
