I like my S14 more than my S13 because of the interior and the rarity of my body style. 240’s arent necessarily the best in any department, but they are far from the worst in any department too.
Nissans are parts bin cars so its easy to do upgrades using inexpensive facroty parts.
My S14 cost me under 10 grand, and I could line it up beside a MK4 supra, an FD RX-7, a WRX Sti, and an S2000 and my car wouldnt seem out of place. (im not talking in stock trim here so dont flame me out)
and seriously, I’d love to see all these message board hero’s who know everything there ever is to know about 240’s and how shitty they are to come out to the track.
applesauce will show the smack talkers how shitty his car is
Yes sir it does, more so in the rear than the front though. It’s nowhere near as serious as it’s cracked up to be, especially online, but there are two main issues that make the FC a little more challenging to drive than the S13, especially beyond the limits of adhesion (ie. drift):
Polar Moment of Inertia - The front-to-rear balance of the car is very close to the centre. It’s close to ~51/49 weight distribution with all of that weight being in the middle of the car, and not at the front and/or rear as in the S13 and S14 (partially due to the fact that it’s technically a front-mid-engine car as the engine is mounted behind the front axle). This means that while it does make the car extremely nimble and agile, it also makes it quite darty. It reacts extremely fast to steering and throttle inputs and as such can be quite unforgiving at times. I find though, that once one gets used to this, they tend to smooth out and slow their movements into something more fluid like, and have no difficulties afterwards.
DTSS or Dynamic Toe Steering System - Similar to HICAS but with the key difference being that these are simply bushings that allow EACH of the rear wheels to steer individually +/-2.85 degrees under hard cornering loads. While this has a tendency to correct for bad steering input or overzealous throttle through a corner by an inexperienced driver, it also makes the car very difficult to “feel” in racing conditions, especially in a drift or slide. Most racers eliminate this with solid bushings.
Yup. FB’s and FC’s are probably the easiest car I know of to work on, once you know what everything is. So much space, especially when you remove all the plastic airbox crap they put in to make it look like it actually has a decent sized engine. Z32’s aren’t too bad but it’s pretty cramped in that engine bay eh? Almost claustraphobic. Same with Z31s, though they’re not quite as bad. MR2s are alright, pretty similar to working on a compact FWD car, except that some things are harder to get at with the engine being on so far in from the rear quarters. Oh, and good luck doing a fuel line replacement on that car shakes head.
I bought my 240 because I just happened to really like the car. The one car that you seem to praise (AE86) is the one car that probably has as much if not more rust issues than the 240. Have you ever driven a stock AE86?? They certainly aren’t sporty at all.
no-one is doubting applesauce’s car, or any of his ability’s , what people are refering to is how he tlks big, and tough but when its comes time for a meet or anything he doesnt come, he shit tlks people he doesnt know, and if he does show up at a meet he hides from people cuz he knows he’s gonna get smacked so hard hes gonna starve before he stops bouncing
man i wish i had a 240.
I’m gettin my g1 soon and then hopefully my parents will buy me a s13, and i can turn it into a s13.5 drift machine with all this money coming in from Nigeria.
Okay, so what we have so far is that people really dig this car based on looks and “potential”… So is it a “civic”?! Civics look really good, are affordable and have a great aftermarket, Honda made it kinda easy to swap motors around (like another company we know) and they really do handle. These little rockets have tonnes of potential.
I got my S13 hatch for 300$… That is a fair price for a not-so-rusty ready to drive 240SX. Then the poop went stoopid! and these things are getting in the range of 1500 to 3000$ for sh*t with/without engines, rusty, bone stock and “cheesed” to the tits, or beaten into the ground.
FWD’s are not bad… Just different. And a good driver can push any car to its limits, no matter what the layout (FF or FR or MidShip).
And I never NEVER met a girl/chic/woman that thought that S13/S14’s looked good… Most of the time its “is that a Probe?” or “a what?”.
Oh, and I’ve driven a S14 (a few actually), how do you guys fix that whole no feeeling/feedback like I’m driving a videogame lack of anything really in these cars? They seem so detached, no feel.
i bought my s13 because i fell inlove with it after reading an article in SCC at the time i was in the beginning of grade 11. There was a red car on the cover that they called a SILVIA. I did tonns of research, joined Zilvia.net and the following year i got my first s13 and then my second 2 weeks later.
After toying aorund with it and fixing the rust issues and all the other problems and then facing replacing the entire floor, i parted it out and started looking for something else.
That something else is the Cefiro, it’s identical chasis wise to teh s13’s and it’s 4 doors, light and comfy. I love it.

he’s been to every meet and and every track day that i can remember. None of that can disregard my point about the message board hero’s that should be doing their talking on the track. We need to get more people out next year.
Sasha for the win because he could not be more right.
and I for one am not afraid to admit to it…
50% of the reason why I bought my S13 was because I could not get another car for under $5500 “chassis included” with the same potential. The other 50% was due to the fact I wanted one in grade 11 when I got my license but because of Motocross I could never afford Bikes + a Car. Then once finished with Motocross I didnt care what I drove (it got me from point A to B) but as I got older I decided I wanted to have a nice car and the Integra I had “and still have” was not a suitable car in my opinion for me to modified cause it would have costed a arm and a leg and I wouldnt have got near where I’m now with my 240 8)
I got my 240 because when I was a young little 3-year-old communist in Romania I had a green toy 240Z (that to this day I still have). That was my favorite toy, I always played with it and shit, and I said that when I grow up I will own one of these.
I got my S13 becasue it was the best bang for the buck out of what I was looking for.
I was looking at Talon’s/ mx6’s / camero’s. but my mechanic told me that a 240 is something that I should look at. He said they are good quality/fun to drive/RWD which is always a bonus. and it just so happned that my friend Adam (a grandfather of SON) had gotten him self an s14 and he was tellig me all about them.
so that is what really helped me, almost 4 years ago, and I am glad I made the decision
I was always into american cars (Fiero’s) since I was 15 (had 5).
I got a job as an apprentice (Millwright) in '96 and picked up a '91 Integra, I was forever changed into the Japanese ways.
I was looking for more power and something newer, like MX6’s and GSR’s. As soon as I saw that they made a newer style 240 (didn’t like s13 hatches) I went out and picked it up and now, a few years after that, I finaly have my Kouki.
I liked my 2 Zenki’s but I am in love with the '97. I don’t get mistooken for an mx6 anymore, they are kinda rare, and like Sahsa said, I love the light colored seats in the dark interior.
Next will be an s13 so I can put more cash into the car instead of this waiting and doing it slowly. It won’t be a hatch, I can tell you that much 8)

wow u need to read my post again, either that or u need to understand it better,
i never made a comment in response to u tlking about these internet “heros” u speak of, did u notice my quote of your previous post that i included? that was so u would know what i was writing was in response to, guess u just skimed over it , guess u missed my point, take the torch and run with it, u seem to be doing well
Can someone point out applesauce next time there is a meet? I pm’ed him askin to meet up but applesauce for some reason did not reply to my pm. Just to let you know apple, i’m a lot smaller/weaker than you and i’m also younger. Maybe you will now reply to my pm.
yep the 240 is a civic. we have people buying them now because they are popular “drift” cars. which is the new cool thing to have. Honda’s were more about show i think, whereas everyone and his mother who has a 240 claims to drift etc etc etc.
The real question is: did the 240 become popular for the same reasons civics did? I don’t think so. Civics are great track cars yes, but that is not what made them popular. The fact that A LOT of kids had them (most likely because their mothers previously had them) created a large market for these cars as far as modifying them goes. Kids loved the idea of no longer having an econo box but rather a good looking (in their eyes) gino mobile. And so it happened. Parts were created people did lots of stuff with civics and everyone wanted them. The 240 became popular mostly because of its performance potential for the money. Value. People got them and did cool things with them (high power + drifting) and now everyone wants a 240.
The main reason 240’s dont handle stock is because of the tires. I bet you 1000$ if you put 17s on a 240 with good tires everything else BONE stock it would make a world of difference. That and shocks, stock shocks are really soft. Its not the chassis you feel thats sloppy man its the cheap components that are easilly replaceable.
