So when Stern goes to Sirius, 92.9 is going to....

straight Jack FM :hay:

Carolla, Roth Among Stern Replacements

NEW YORK - Goodbye, Howard Stern. Hello, David Lee Roth. And Adam Carolla. And CNN Radio News. And Jack-FM. And …

Infinity Broadcasting Corp., finally revealing its plans to replace the self-proclaimed “King of All Media,” announced a new morning drive time lineup Tuesday of assorted hosts for its 27 soon-to-be former Stern stations. Rather than turning to a single replacement, Infinity offered a variety of names for different markets.

The biggest belonged to ex-Van Halen front man Roth and comedian Carolla. Roth, who appeared Tuesday morning on Stern’s nationally syndicated show to announced the move, will start in January on WXRK-FM in New York, WBCN-FM in Boston, WYSP-FM in Philadelphia, WRKZ-FM in Pittsburgh, WNCX-FM in Cleveland, WPBZ-FM in West Palm Beach, Fla., and KLLI-FM in Dallas.

Carolla, known for his comedy work on “The Man Show” and “Loveline,” takes over on the Infinity stations in Los Angeles (KLSX-FM), San Diego (KPLN-FM), Phoenix (KZON-FM), Portland (KUFO-FM) and Las Vegas (KXTE-FM).

“When we set out to find a replacement for Howard Stern, we took the opportunity to cultivate a wide array of talent, from both in and out of the radio industry,” said Joel Hollander, Infinity’s chairman and CEO.

Stern is on the air through the end of this year, before he makes the leap from terrestrial radio to Sirius Satellite Radio.

Infinity stations in Sacramento, Buffalo, N.Y., and Fresno, Calif., will replace Stern by switching to the “Jack” format, which features expanded play lists of hundreds of songs — but includes no disc jockeys.

A dozen other Infinity stations will replace Stern with anything from talk radio to Tim Warner Inc.'s CNN Radio News. Rover, a disc jockey heard in Ohio, will expand his show into Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Memphis and Rochester, N.Y.

Washington-based morning hosts The Junkies will add Baltimore as an outlet, while WOCL-FM in Orlando will feature the team of Drew and Mel while KXBT-FM in Austin will air Star & Buc Wild.

anybody still hate that station since they changed from all talk? i hope they go down in flames personally

no 1 will be able 2 replace stern…

O&A could replace stern in their sleep but yeah 92.9 is going down. worst station ever.

jack fm kicks ass.

True, they are the worst ever. Honestly, they are Stern wannabes, and it’s funny you should say something to the extreme like “worst ____ ever.” That’s how they describe everything. Either it’s the best ever, or worst ever. They don’t know how to feel so-so on something. I suppose it makes better radio to be overly opinionated.

Smart man. O&A are the new shit. Stern is an old crank. He used to be good but now all he does is talk about how he invented everything in radio and that the gubbyment is out to get him:cjerk:

EDIT: I used to be a huge Stern fan too. But I find him very hard to stomach even for the 5 seconds I hear his show on my alarm clock radio.

Jack FM sucks a big one, K-Rock is getting what we used to have and going all talk… I like FM talk, I miss what 92.9 FM talk. I have a sirius radio ready for Stern… Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but Howard still makes me laugh all the time and has is a great interviewer.

Baabaabooy to you all!

Oh, the Communist News Netowrk, aye?

Personally the only talk radio I can listen to is Laura Ingram or possibly 5 minutes of Dr Laura.

Dr. Laura?? Five minutes of her and I want to plant my fist in her mouth.
Weren’t there nude pics of her floating around that were taken when she was younger? And she preaches family values.

agreed 100% lol

stern blows… O&A maynot be the origional radio god(s,) but they have more talent in little jimmy’s head than sterns entire crew lol

It’s an instant pick-me-up knowing that I don’t have to call into a radio show to get my daily facts.

I’m glad I sirius radio, I need my morning stern.

O&A is hilarious, stern is just :tif:

they are both :uhh:

I used to like stern more but thses guys were all out all the time, stern you have to catch at the right time or you wont find anything funny. And they throw one fucking insane beach party.

Hooo Hooo Hooo, hey robin -

Stern has better guests but overall I prefer O & A. I’m really confused on which Sat co. I want. I’ve had XM for over a year, but just bought a new car with Sirius and love their channels. If it weren’t for O & A, I would have made the switch already. Maybe I’ll keep XM in one and Sirius in the other.

FM - haven’t listened to that in a long time. I even removed the antenna from my car. I could care less about what happens to the 92.9’s or 103.3’s with their crappy playlists and mandatory metallica crap they play over and over.

92.3, the rock station that stern broadcasts from in nyc recently went classic rock (what they were when stern first started years ago) and is soon going TALK. nothing good to listen to anymore. i better start liking my sirius.

i actually ind of likke jack. they say “radio that is like playing your ipod” or something like that…and sometimes the music is horrible. but every once in a while there is a song that i catch that i havent heard in a while, and cuz i am a complete terd and love 80’s music, i cant help but like the station. i dont take radio too seriously, i have always thought of it as a neccesary evil and i have no trouble surfing stations at a hint of boredom.

 i feel the same way…
and i highly doubt O&A could come anywhere near the ratings Stern has or does

I got XM with my new truck and I listen to O&A every so often. They just aren’t as good as they were when they were on 92.9. I was excited that I was able to hear them again, but ehhhhh.

Stern  He used to be funny, but then when he started his whining and moaning, he got annoying. Maybe he’ll be better when he goes to Sirius, but right now, I can’t listen to him for even 5 minutes.

I stil listen to radio stations like 103.3 and 92.9. I grew up on some of the stuff recycled on 92.9 but need a dose of “heavier” music that 103.3 plays. But every so often I’ll flip to 96.9 as long as Russo or Norton isn’t on, or 97.7.

I’m still debating if I want to contunie XM when my 3 months free is over.
