I went there for the first week of it. Thankfully they let me park the contour with all the Fords on the classic side. My buddy went last year and got his car keyed up pretty bad. Needless to say, I didnt go 20 ft. from my car the entire night.
joe, thats the thing, we pull up at the entrance to the classics side and we get shit from them saying no trucks. then later in the night we see trucks down there. I think their so called security guards are just as dumb. If i didnt have to be down at that end at all, i wouldnt even walk over there to see the cars.
newman, i was thinking the same thing about a button, but 3 parrallel lines, on a flat surface on top, definately not a button.
Im not even sure where it happened, because when i first pulled up they told me to park over by some other cars, tons of people just wandering around. about 20 min later my friend showed up with his truck, i moved and parked with him. there was nobody around there until about 8:30-9pm, after it got crowded, we left about 15 min later because of that.
Tony thats when I showed up, I talked to you about that time. That really sucks man. If you do decide to go again park next to me so we can keep a better eye
maybe standing with a shotgun by my truck might make people think twice.
Not worth entering your ride, IMO. I haven’t been to it in many moons and I doubt I’ll go back. The 16-yo thug mentality is strong with this show - if it ain’t their’s, it’s fair game.
man that is some bull shit. I hate that because u can afford to have a nice car and put money into it to improve it and they can’t they feel that they have to scratch it. i go there alot and i leave my car, but i dont think ill be leaving anymore. i hate assholes.
That blows man. But if you’re living in Western New York and you’re not into “classic” domestic cars, you quickly realize that this town offers you nothing in regards to cruise nights or shows where you can display your car.

i love the supercruise
very fair participant judged show, tons and tons of classes to enter into. One of my favorite local shows to attend, plus its less than 5 miles from home!

Sorry, but do I drive a sport compact? No.
Joe, you put on a great show but seriously you do not have anything to offer anyone with cars that myself and a majority of NYSpeed contributors care about.
This is what I’m talking about: (from the classing on your website)
Sport Compacts/Tuners/Bikes:
43) Domestic Auto Pre 1992
44) Domestic Auto 1993-1999
45) Domestic Auto 2000-2007
46) Import Auto Pre 1992
47) Import Auto 1993-1999
48) Import Auto 2000-2007
49) Extreme Custom/Tuner - Any Year
50) Motorcycle
I do not drive a “sport compact” or “Extreme Custom” or a “tuner” car. I personally refuse to put my car into a show that refuses to recognize this simple fact. If I went to the show, I’d want my car to be parked with and classed with the “Late Model, 1994-1999 Modified” class. But since I drive an Import, I’m automatically thrown into the “Import Auto 1993-1999” class under the heading of “tuner.” Do you see the problem here?
That’s like me throwing a car show and refusing to recognize that your Camaro is a classic and instead, making you park with a class for “generally old cars.”
It’s not jab at you personally, but I know myself and many others who put a lot of time any money into their cars hate that they are thrown in as an afterthought at all these cruise nights and shows. Or that when there is classing that might let them to not be with the “tuners” (like I explained above) they get to the show, and the workers / staff say “Oh look, it’s an Import. He goes in with the Tuners.” :bloated:
When you add “tuner” classes to a car show, you repel high-performance import sports cars from your show for fear that they’ll be forced to park / be classed as “tuners.” It’s that simple.

I went to the show 2 years ago, and the “tuner” parking is completly seperate from the rest of the show. Another turn off for the import sport car owners.
Understand and appreciate your input. This is our 5th year show and we are in the top 3 largest shows in the area. We are only 2 people that run the show, where as most other shows are run by groups of 15-30 people.
As for the classes, I have always been open to suggestions and input by anyone that has or was interested in showing their car. Most local car shows have maybe 20-30 classes with about 100-125 awards.
We are different, we have 50 classes with over 200 awards.
When we started making our classes for 2007, we based it on the 2006 show. We went through all the registrations and based on the number of vehicles in the various years and classifications.
Now while I’m not saying you have a valid point, I would not have thought of the class that you suggested. Most shows don’t have many classes for sport compacts as it is. We added more classes and broke it down by years and import/non-import.
Now it is basically impossible to make a class to suit everyone (that would even fit on the page).
If you were to register your car, you could put it in a few different classes. Either it be under the Sport Compact/Tuner Section or 1988-2007 modified or production classes. We let the sport compacts have their own section on the side of the park. They have their bass offs, crank their music and appear to be happy. On the other side of the park, we have the classics and late models, foreign and domestic. All different range of cars. Come as a club and park as a club.

Untrue. You DO NOT have to put your car in the tuner section. You CAN put your car in the 1994-1999 Modified Class. You will not have to park with the tuners either.
We try to run a fair and fun show and try not to have any of the serious or political BS associated with a lot of other car shows.
So hopefully that answers your question, and if you still don’t want to show your car, come on out and check out the show.
tuner car
n. a stock or factory-default automobile with, or suitable for, aftermarket modifications (to enhance speed, power, or style).
Unfortunately man, shows like the Shredd & Regan cruise night (and 99% of other local cruise nights) have already put out this image of “domestics on one side, everything else on the other.” It’s automotive segregation.
Unless you aggressively advertise and let the event staff know that you don’t mind imports, etc in the modified classes, you’re not going to get them to show up. But one problem is that some of the regular people in the modified classes DO mind if these cars are classed or parked with them. And that’s something you can’t change.
In my opinion either you;
a) Have an all-inclusive car show and don’t segregate
or
b) Have a classics / domestic car show and just don’t allow anything else in.
Don’t you think by “throwing” the “tuner” cars on the far-side of the show, you’re basically implying that you don’t want them there anyway? I’d stop waisting my time implying and just out right tell them they’re not invited.
“Yeah, you can bring yer import… but ya gota park over there in the “tuner” section.”
Sounds almost like this to me:
“Yeah, you can ride the bus Negro… but ya gota park yer black ass in the back.”
Am I wrong? :gotme:
In my opinion, more classes is not the answer.
If I was was running the show, I’d drop all the tuner classes. Make everyone compete in general production classes no matter what car they had. Make the kid with the '99 cavalier with a huge wing go in the same class as the guy with the '99 vette. It might sound stupid, but maybe if the guy with the vette talks to that kid with the cavalier and explains to him why he wing is pointless, he might realize that his car looks ridiculous and take the wing off. That or he’s not going to show up at all.

That’s quite broad-based. By that definition I could call camarojoe’s car a tuner car. But everyone knows that would be ridiculous.
“Tuner car” has turned into simply a nicer way of calling someone a “ricer” or telling them they have a cheap, tasteless car. It’s an insult to serious enthusiasts who get thrown under its title simply because they drive an import, non-classic or non-V8 car.

I dont really see the problem. If he offers an import section for the years your car fits into, then atleast they offer something that applies. I wouldnt pull my car into the middle of a Tri-Five meet unless they wanted it to be there, Im not going to ruin their meet just because I think I apply. I never really understood the car show thing anyway, but if Im at one, I want to be parked near cars like mine.
You’re car is in the extreme minority of clean worthwhile cars that would fit into a category you want that they could promote.
In running this show, I have learned that you can NEVER satisfy everyone.
Adding classes is a better idea than a bad idea.
Why? It gives out more awards and gives participants more of a chance to walk away with a trophy. Plus a 99 Corvette won’t lose out to a 99 Cavalier if the owners classify them correctly to their advantage.
Now as for the sport compact, tuner, high performance modified import or whatever you would want to classify, that is almost like me having to appease
Corvette Coupe, Corvette Convertible, and then classify them by the years. Or Truck Class needing 4x4 pickup, full size, mudders, boggers, slammed, 2wd, low rider, stock, and modified.
Our show is all inclusive. We allow anything with wheels, 2, 4 or more. And we tried to make as many possible classes to allow for the cars that come. Last year we had 76 registered vehicles in the tuner section. Of the 76 I would say that 95% of them fit the description of a tuner. As for the performance import or modied, not many show since even last year when I posted the infor for our show, most guys on here stated that they don’t care to show their car. But last year I also said that that could show it in the year fitting class with production or modified. We have Mustang, f-body, GTO, and sports car owners that put their cars in those classes, so why shouldn’t the imports? We even added Mustang and F-Body classes since the response was so high. We would have done that same if high performance modified non-tuners came out in force too. But why have an award for a class only 2 cars register for?
I’m not anywhere close to desiring to run a limited show that caters to only certain models/makes/or years. Reason 1 being that this show takes enough time, effort, life, and money out of me and reason 2 being that I want the show to be open to EVERYTHING. I want classic owners to check out the tuners and 87 and older cars. And vice versa. The hobby is only going to benefit with an open atmosphere like that.
I have been in the hobby for 19 years. I have been running the show for 5 years. I have been to hundreds of shows and learn from their mistakes and positive points. I honestly can say that I have not heard 1 complaint about my last years show (that I had any control over). I encourage people to tell me what we can do to improve the show. My show has only grown every year by 75 to 100 more cars registered a year. I think we’re doing something right
As for the tuners on the separate part of the show, they asked for that. 3 years ago a few clubs said they want their own section. Bass offs, cranking their music, etc. Yes, the classics side gots annoyed with the bass pumping all day long. So we had a solution that was recommended by the tuner guys. And hence, they got their own section.
And a 99 Cavalier would most likely be entered into sport compact anyways, not in production/modified with a 99 Vette. But it is all up to the owners of the car. There was nothing stopping them fro doing it in the past years. the only thing that we tell people to do is put their car in the correct year class and if it’s modified put it in modified, and stock goes in stock.
Like I said, you are invited to register your car in our show and put it in the class you feel would best fit it. You are also welcome to shadow me if you want to learn anything about the show.

I myself will register my Camaro in a few shows. I’ll probably get a few awards, but really don’t care. I have 260 of them in my basement right now. I can make as many as I want for myself. It’s more about hanging out with my friends and making new ones.
Our show started out as a comment from a friend 5 years ago saying, “Why don’t you run a show?”. 3 months later we ran our first show with 270 cars. I basically did it as a, “why not try it and see if I can be successful thing”. It worked.

I have to agree.

I also agree, but thats just the way it is. The term “tuner” always just sounded cheesy/ricerish… however, 99% of the import people I know refer to themselfs as “tuners” and I usually just laugh at them lol. Gotta love TF&TF
I saw this coming last year, it was only a matter of time where someone’s car on here got vadalized at S&R cruise night. There are just too many kids there who have no respect for others property in the tuner section.

atleast your show is not run like any show from the WNY Oldsmobile Club. I had to go into Modified ALL class twice last year, for the GM Powertrain and Fantasy Island shows. I dont know what else was at the GM show, but i did get first place there. As for the Fantasy Island show, i was in a class with a 02 Z06 that had tons of performance work done, barely anything visual on the exterior or interior and a supercharger. Also in that class was a late 90s Mustang Cobra with a crazy expensive custom paint job with a lot of airbrush work, custom wheels, and chromed motor with a s/c as well. There was also a newer Caddy Deville with 22s and a trunk full of stereo equipment. Now tell me how does a 2001 S10 with air suspension with a notched frame into the bed, some body mods, single color paint and a basically stock motor with just and intake and exhaust fall into this class? the Vette got 1st, I got 2nd place, but i think the owner of that mustang felt like shit after seeing a s10 beat him that half the paint work done, as for the Caddy owner, im sure he felt ripped off for being in that class. this type of class is what will stop people from going to that show again.
wow, so we are arguing racial segregation for automotive parking now… haha what a evolution
serperate but equal
while i agree that the RICED out cars should have their own section… the nicely modded clean car should be able to park with everybody else… thats what makes the unorganized cruise nights good…(ie anything but S&R) but thats neither here nor there
and josh, the real reason you never bring your car to any car shows is because you want to tape footage while riding shotgun

We allow for that. Cars like Onyx’s should be on the side with the classics and late models.
