I love what you are doing for that car bro. Mad respect and props. I’m with you till the end on this one.

Wow, great job!
I had to go through this last year, rust is such a pain to repair.
Keep up the good work!

Its really nice to see that we are at the same stage as 1 another because now i can ask you questions and u can ask me some too but your ahead of me because you got all your welding equip as where i dont but anyways props to you man some great work and expect a couple pms from me in the future

see that really makes me wish i’d had all these same resources when i had my last rust-mobile 240 a couple years ago. although mind you my rockers were in alot worse shape than yours so i would’ve needed to do alot more work…but still it’s nice to see someone actually bothering to SAVE a 240 instead of writing it off as “cancerous beyond saving” and tossing it to the wrecker’s.

good on ya.

wow keep up the good work man, its definetly not an easy task doing what your going through. One thing i wanted to say was it isn’t really necessary to use such thick metal for the frame repairs. If you use a thinner guage metal and box in the frame rail it will look alot cleaner and will still be very strong! Anyways, great work and keep the pics coming!

The pinch seams are pretty screwed, so I wanted to make a nice strong point to jack the car from later on.

Also, not really looking for a “factory” look on the underbody. Just want it to be rust free and damn strong.

Well before I comment on the work, let me first say…MAD PROPS FOR THE TIME TAKEN TO HOST AND POST ALL THOSE PIC!!! I mean daaammmmm.

As for the work, holy shite dude that’s sweet. I give you FULL credit for all the time and effort in to this project. You gave new meaning to the phrase “Labor of love” let me tell ya!

Way to go and keep the updates coming.

Take care.

Easy 8)

Nice motor choice.

The 2.3L has an enormous aftermarket and those motors have been built to make insane-o power. And last more than a couple days at those levels.

Come with T3s from the factory and are a dime a dozen in your local wreckyard or for parts.

Nice project, should be fun, fast reliable and unique.

Wait a minute …

You know this is SON right?

Yup. Infact, I just paid for a membership here too. :stuck_out_tongue: (waiting for processing though)

In anycase, I secured a set of pedals for $90 shipped to my door. So, the project will continue!

He was pointing out that we’re a bunch of tools, and the car must have:

An SR20DET or KA-T
wide, low offset wheels
oem aero
be a coupe
be painted in flatblack
be lowered to the point that you STILL scrape on a perfectly flat road

there’s prolly more rules, just can’t think of them atm.

And deliver tofu by night through the mountain roads in Japan? Dori Dori!

I actually deliver tofu in my 240sx. Sometimes i feel like i’m in initial D.

Hahaha…again Mr200 and I think alike.
I’m sure some of you old timers remember the serious altercations that Adam and I had on here with most of the board due to our interest in non-Nissan swaps.

This is one of the overlooked engines!! And is way easier to fit that our choice back then (VG30et). And guys were making fun of me when I said that I wanted the Ford 2.3 in an AE86 chassis, or a 7mgte in a S13…go man go!

I’m with you on the engine choice. You will have soooo many heads to play with. The junk yards are littered. You probably already know about the head swaps etc right? Roller cam head from a Ranger…or if you are really adventursome (which you are) you could build your next engine with a Volvo DOHC head…anyway.

I’m pumped and wish you the best of luck.

PS. I want a 4g63 in an FD. Badly.

Way to fix up a rust bucket, that looks like some hard work you put into it, and that looks like an interesting engine swap, keep it up. :thumleft:

the finsihed product should be nuts… very good job with the photo diary.

Today’s Update: Fire ahoy!

As planned, today is Thursday and work has to be done on the car. I made a plan for today:

  1. Remove brake pedal assembly
  2. Remove some rust from the rear of the car
  3. Weld in a patch to a hole in the sub-frame rail
    Seemed simple enough.

Undercoating all dried and such.

Picked up some more supplies (undercoating, 6011 rods, 6013 rods, and 7014 rods)

The mighty welder.

Out comes the brake pedal. Wait a tic, what in hell does that switch do?

I tried trace the wires to figure out what they did. It connects to some wires that run further under the dash. I assume it’s some sort of “amp on/amp off” since there used to be a stereo in the car.

More work getting the pedal out. God damn it was hard to fit in there.

I figured I might as well pull out the rotten remains of the emergency brake cable setup too.

Today’s first experience with fire - while cutting up the new patch for the rear subframe, I may have set fire to my coveralls a little bit.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/March-16-240sx/April%2027/12.jpg

Welding in the 1/4 patch. In retrospect, I could of went thinner. However, I did not.

During this process, I encountered my second experience with fire. Apparently some sparks/flames escaped through that little gas access door and set fire to the rear seat sitting in the hatch.

Did some more clean up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/sockington/March-16-240sx/April%2027/17.jpg

Packed up and headed home.

I only have a couple more exams left, so more work can continue with the mighty 230sx-t.

Also, Photobucket has been screwy tonight about hosting pics.

frig, i’m all for non-nissan swaps… fast is fast…

this is an interesting project, there better be a huge pay-off

all i have to say is that it better be driving by june 10th

I’d be lucky to finish the body work by then!
