Did anyone in this thread say that they DIDN’T tip their pizza delivery guy? As a tipped employee, I tip everyone probably far too much than I should, INCLUDING the pizza guy (especially if they tell me 45 minutes and he shows up in 15)
so what if gas was 99 cents a gallon… then you make mad money.
only YOU think your job’s income is based on oil prices… not your employer… and it’s thier thoughts that matter
so it’s a moot point.
not true at all.
i’ve delivered food that was late before, or the box looked crushed, or the wing sauce spilled all over the inside of the bag… i point it out to the customer as i deliver it and ask them to check their food out before they pay me… if it’s not acceptable, i offer to have it remade, refund their money, whatever… if it is acceptable, i still usually kick them a $3 coupon for next time for it being late/damaged/whatever.
actually, you’re an idiot.
when gas was a dollar per gallon, I made $3/hour.
but you know the motives of my employer… :blah:
so you got paid less than minimum wage?
it’s a tipped job, isn’t it?
that’s what i’m asking, i never delivered pizza
so if it is… then you get your minimum wage regardless of tips… so what’s the problem?
but if you can’t tip, drive your cheap ass to the pizza shop and pick the food up.
Exactly.
Who do you work for? I’d like to call him and find out how he can pay under minimum wage for a job that isn’t considered tipped.
how isn’t it considered tipped?
edit: fuck it. tired of arguing with children. i make too much money. no one should tip me. in fact, my customers should get free oral every time i deliver. and then i should pay them.

well i honestly want to know if it is a tipped job (which i didn’t think it was)
and your employers equation to figure out your hourly wage based on current oil prices.
i understand shit like the IRS minimum milage going up 2 cents a mile… but i never heard of pizza shop owners lowering and raising hourly wages because of gas prices.
how are you arguing with children when everyone on here is your age or older?
Jenn is? You’re really the only two people in this thread “arguing” with me. I thought she was under 21.
what exactly is your point?
i wasn’t arguing with anyone…
i didn’t know that a delivery person is a tipped waged job… because i didn’t think it was.
and i simply stated that you can’t really compensate your earnings because of high gas prices… if that were the case, pizza delivery guys would get paid milage ontop of their hourly rate.
they do at many pizza shops.
so what?
other computer admins get to wear jeans on friday, because of that should i entitle myself to at my company? no.
then go work for them :dunno:
EXACTLY
no. i work for a mom + pop shop. we’ve looked at a lot of different ways to do the pay, and the current setup works best for both of us because it keeps my wages relatively consistent. It might mean that I take a beating on my wages on days that I take 40 deliveries, but the tips USUALLY more than make up for the extra fuel used. Plus, on a Monday I usually make very little due to slow business, so I at least have the $5/hr to expect.
