ok dude, i just told u what my mechnic explained to me, in polish too, soi im not sure if i translated it properly dude.
yeah, i know what you mean, i’m russian, sometimes english is a real bitch isn’t it?
just joking, i should’ve known why your name is Polak though
Actually, I know english good, polish not so good, so I have trouble translating.
Not saying a bad ignition switch is a good resone for a car cranking but not starting but it is a posble one. NOT trying to start an argument!!! If the wire to the “run” position on the switch is “open” or has poor conection and the “crank” or starter connection is good then the car would crank but not start. I have experienced this problem only it was the IGN fues that was blown. The car would crank but that was it. If this was the case though the car would never start unless it was a loose connection touching inermitently.
a bad ignition switch can also give u an intermitted no crank, it does not neccessarily always not crank.
Pavel, u should know, i still remember that accord of yours, waaaaaaaaay back when we met up at pac mall. its mainly a honda problem, although quite a few nissan models have this problem. i belive my ride has a bad ignition switch, because sometimes it won’t crank, i take out the key and try a couple more time, and it will work. i have other repairs to do at the moment, so i haven’t replaced my switch yet, but it defintely is a possibility.
IF I GOTTA HOLD YOUR HAND, AND GIVE EVERY MEMBER IN HERE A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF REPAIRS/ CAUSES/ SYMTOMS, YOU BETTER BELIEVE I WOULD GET PAID FOR DOING IT, CAUSE I COULD SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE ON HERE GIVING DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS.
I gave a suggestion, it is up to the person who posted this message to do the research, IMO. sure, we all need help every now and then, but since he is taking the car to a tech, maybe he should question his tech to check his switch.
oh, and i prefer K.Y. Jelly, astroglide leaves a rash!!!
LOL
yea it happened agian but i found the problem this time it was a loose connection in the socket thingy and i just wrapped a rubber band around it and it was fine agian
pavel obviously you have never set timing on a KA. KA’s don’t like retarded timing. And who knows if someone had screwed with his timing or he just purchased the car. When I bought my car it took me a week to figure out why the hell it had a hard start and ran like crap. It turned out to be timing. I have installed engines that had shitty timing and couldn’t figure out problem for about 10 mins untill I got my timing light.
If you attack me once more on these boards I’m seriously going to get pissed off. I asked him the 2 basic questions. Go look in you FSM under hard start. What me and wayne mentioned was everything in that list without looking at it. I said timing, vacuum leaks, and tune-up (ie ignition components) and he said fuel pump. Indeed he was right.
And since were on the topic of KA’s howmany have you rebuild, built, swaped in and out? Since this board works on one up-man-ship. I have swaped 9 KA’s. Including s14 DOHC into 89 s13. I built and rebuilt a 11.1:1 compression DOHC. Rebuilding my SOHC and the 11.1:1 compression engine at the moment.
Andrew.
Well, I have just had an interesting discussion with andrew over MSN now. Yes, he has the knowledge of KA’s an he has done many swaps already. However, I tried to explain to him that saying “vacuum leaks or timing” is not a good answer since it rules out all the other possibilities for a problem, and doesn’t provide any background information on why he thinks that. So after a lot of anger aimed at me, I think Andrew decided to just not post in Technical section, to which I told him that he SHOULD post if he has good answers.
well taht was fun wasnt ladies.

PS I cleaned up the stupid personal attacks. Apologies to those involved.
